It’s Not Real Love Unless He Does These 10 Things

Anyone can say that they love you, but it takes someone special to prove it. Simple things like buying you flowers and opening up doors for you won’t cut it. It takes a little bit more to prove himself. It’s not real love unless he does the following things:

  1. Does something he swore he’d never do. If he hates cooking, he’ll push his annoyance aside and make you an occasional meal. If he hates Halloween, he’ll still put on a costume for you to make your smile.
  2. Admits when he screws up. More than that, he should actually apologize without you forcing him to. It means that he actually cares about your feelings and values your happiness over his pride.
  3. Agrees to watch stupid shows with you. He shouldn’t talk over those stupid shows, either. He should hold back his criticism until the commercials come on.
  4. Memorizes facts he doesn’t care about. Before he met you, he didn’t know the difference between makeup brands, but now he knows exactly which eyeliner to buy you. Of course, he also knows which type of tampons you prefer and the names of every character on your favorite soap opera.
  5. Tells you more than you ever needed to know. He should tell you so much about his life that the stories actually start to bore you. You should know more about him than his parents, his best friend, and his brother combined.
  6. Shares everything he has with you. This refers to more than his plate of fries. He should consider his home to be your home and his bed to be your bed, even if you haven’t moved in together yet.
  7. Becomes friendly with your friends. He shouldn’t moan and groan whenever he’s asked to hang out with your friends. He should learn to love them, and even develop his own jokes with them, so that they feel like real friends instead of friends of friends.
  8. Helps you with gross tasks. If you’re throwing up in the toilet, he’ll hold your hair back and wipe the gunk off of your face. In return, you’ll help him if he ever has a pimple that needs popping.
  9. Buys you thoughtful gifts. You don’t want to receive flowers for every anniversary. If he really loved you, he’d know you well enough to buy you something that you needed, even if you didn’t know you wanted it.
  10. Compliments you in sweatpants. He shouldn’t wait until you’re all dolled up to pay you a compliment. He should think you look beautiful when you wake up with acne cream on your face and sweatpants clinging to your sweaty hips.
