How To Survive A Breakup Without Gaining 10 Pounds

Breakups can be hard on a girl. You’ll want to reach for the ice cream in order to feel comforted, but that’s only going to make you gain weight. When that happens, you’re going to feel even worse about yourself than you did after your ex dumped you. Of course, there are ways that you can survive a breakup without gaining ten pounds. You just have to find new ways to deal with your pain.

  1. Eat healthy snacks. Eating can help you ignore the pain in your heart, but you don’t have to gorge on chocolate. You can grab an apple, a bag of nuts, or some bananas to chow down on. That way, you’ll still keep yourself occupied by eating, but you’ll be consuming healthy foods instead of unlimited calories.
  2. Make revenge your goal. Instead of gaining weight, your breakup can inspire you to lose weight. Think about it: If you spend time on the treadmill instead of wasting time stalking your ex’s social media pages, then you’ll have abs that you can upload to the Internet. When your ex sees how fit you are, he’ll kick himself for leaving someone so sexy.
  3. Listen to empowering music. If you spend your time listening to sad love songs by Taylor Swift, you’re only going to make yourself cry harder. Instead, you should put on some high energy music to pump you up for a run. Keep those earbuds in as you jog around the block and you’ll feel empowered.
  4. Talk to your friends. If you eat to deal with pain, it’s probably because you can’t find any other outlet for it. That’s why talking to your friends about your situation could help you. Once you get everything off of your chest, and they give you some compliments to cheer you up, you’ll be less likely to binge on cookies.
  5. Take a kickboxing class. If you can’t get over the anger you feel toward your ex, channel it toward something positive. Take a kickboxing class or a self-defense course, where you’ll be able to punch and kick away the pain. You won’t even realize you’re staying fit whilst doing so.
  6. Walk your dog around the block. If you have a dog, you don’t need a boyfriend, because your puppy will treat you better than a human ever could. That’s why you should spend as much time as you can alongside your furry friend after a breakup. Seeing him will cheer you up, and he can even help you avoid gaining weight if you take him for walks everyday.
  7. Don’t bring too much money to the bar. Food isn’t the only thing that’ll make you gain weight after a breakup. Alcohol can give you a big, round beer belly. In order to avoid that, only bring a certain amount of money with you when you go out to bars with your friends or hit the liquor store. That way, you can’t drink more than your fair share.
  8. Take a cooking class. The best time to take a class is after a breakup, because it’ll help you establish a new routine that doesn’t involve your ex. If you want to stay healthy, then you can take a cooking class where you’ll learn how to create low-calorie meals. It should help you keep your weight down.
  9. Find a new guy. You don’t have to find a new boyfriend immediately after things ended with your old one. However, it’ll help to find a new guy to innocently flirt with and Facebook stalk. That way, it’ll get your mind off of your ex, which should also get your mind off of munching on food.
  10. Keep your hands busy. If you don’t want to hop on the treadmill while watching TV, then you should sew or paint your nails. That way, you’ll keep your hands occupied while you’re just sitting around. Then they can’t reach for a bag of chips.
