To All The Guys Who Think Ghosting Is OK

In the end, you said nothing. You disappeared into thin air and never gave us the chance to say goodbye. You were there one day and gone the next, giving us no warning and no explanation. You may have thrown away your last words without a care in the world, but here are a few choice words for you:

  1. You’re pathetic. Let’s get this one out of the way. Honestly, the fact that you think it’s okay to treat another human being this way is just sad. It might sound cheesy, but treating others the way you want to be treated is no laughing matter. We made an effort. We dedicated time to your sorry ass, and this is how you repay us? Pathetic.
  2. You’re taking the easy way out. Not only do you not have the balls to end it in person, you don’t even have the courage to do it on the phone or even text. You just stop all communication and hope we get the hint. Actually saying something might sound exhausting, but it shows compassion. The easy way just proved you’re a jerk with no balls.
  3. You deserve to be alone. You’re the one who should get a clue, because while you’re laughing your ass off about how we just won’t give up, it’s you who will end up alone. We’re trying to find a companion, a partner, and maybe that wasn’t you but at least we’re trying.
  4. You won’t be haunting us for long. Soon enough we’ll realize the scum you really were. We’re not going to waste our time dreaming of you when you didn’t even have the decency to tell us it was over. You need to get over yourself, because nice guys might finish last, but ghosts never even reach the finish line.
  5. Karma’s a bitch, and it’s coming your way. Your actions have consequences. In your choice to ghost, we were the ones suffering, but in the end, it will be you who pays the price. Someday, a girl will hurt you and the tables will be turned. When that day comes, remember everything you did to deserve it.
  6. What happened to Prince Charming? What happened to the knight in shining armor? What happened to the brave men who lay it all on the line for love? In modern dating, are we really left with these cowards? You might not have been “The One,” but you could have a least been a decent guy. You didn’t have the courage or compassion to let us down easy. In fact, you didn’t make an effort to let us down at all.
  7. You’re not a real man. Real men don’t treat women this way. Refusing to grow the hell up isn’t going to get you very far in this life. Disappearing from our life is just plain immature. Mature adults don’t run from their problems, they face them head on.
  8. We could have handled the truth. Some guys claim to ghost because they didn’t want to hurt our feelings by explaining how they just weren’t interested anymore. How does ghosting make it better though? You honestly think not giving us any sort of explanation protects our feelings? Don’t blame it on the girl — blame on yourself, because you were the weak one here.
