All independent women already know that we don’t need a boyfriend in order to be happy. Of course, that doesn’t stop us from imagining what it would be like to have someone to kiss, hug, and just hang out with all the time. If you’re ever upset about your single status, stop your whining before it begins. After all, there are certain things you don’t need a boyfriend in order to experience.

  1. Date nights. Pretty much anything you could do with a man, you can do with your friends. Want to go iceskating? How about take a trip to an amusement park? Your friends will be more than willing to tag along. When you have a true blue BFF, everyone will think that you’re girlfriends, anyway, so you might as well set up date nights.
  2. Meaningful sex. When you have casual sex, it doesn’t have to be with a total stranger. If you think you can handle sleeping with a close friend, go for it. That way, the experience will feel more meaningful. Even though it won’t lead to anything, it will still feel worthwhile.
  3. Cuddle sessions. If you have a puppy, let him hop up on your bed to cuddle. You probably have some friends who wouldn’t mind wrapping their arms around you, either. Of course, a teddy bear or a body pillow will always do the trick.
  4. Confidence. Compliments from men are always nice, but they shouldn’t make or break your self-esteem. You should be just as appreciative of the compliments that your sister and mother give you. Even if they keep quiet one day, you should compliment yourself when you look in the mirror.
  5. Orgasms. If you’re not interested in the idea of casual sex, you can make yourself orgasm. Grab a dildo or use your own two hands to get the job done. By the time you’re finished, you’ll forget all about wanting a boyfriend.
  6. Living together. You don’t have to wait until you find a boyfriend to live with someone. You have plenty of friends who would love to split the rent with you. You could even find a stranger to live with. It might not be the best experience, but it’ll certainly make a good story one day.
  7. Anniversaries. If you want a special day that feels like it’s made for you, celebrate the anniversaries of your friendships. You could also celebrate the anniversary of when you first got your job, or when you graduated. Throw a party whenever you feel the urge.
  8. Fancy dinners. Some women are too embarrassed to go out to the movies or to a restaurant on their own. Of course, you should embrace your independence. Go out and enjoy the world without worrying about what strangers are thinking of you. Their opinion doesn’t matter, anyway.
  9. Morning texts. Your friends can make you feel just as special as any man ever could. If they don’t text you first thing in the morning, you should be the one to start the conversation off with a compliment. They’ll be so happy that they’ll immediately return the favor.
  10. Love.Romantic love isn’t the only type of emotion that exists. You can love your family, your friends, and your pets. Platonic feelings aren’t inferior. They’re just as special as falling in love with a man.
