Woman Bites Off Attacker’s Penis After He Assaults Her South Carolina Sex Offender Registry

A woman has bitten off the penis of a 61-year-old registered sex offender after he kidnapped her from a Greenville, South Carolina gas station and sexually assaulted her. Dennis Slaton has since been arrested and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping as a result of the August incident.

  1. Slaton offered the woman a ride. On August 8, the woman had the misfortunate to be at a local gas station at the same time as Slaton. He offered her a ride, which she accepted, but she has since told police that she immediately realized something was wrong and asked to get out. She offered him $5 for giving her a ride and he said “OK.”
  2. That’s when things went wrong. According to the police report, it was at this point that Slaton pulled a knife on the victim, holding it to her throat and insisting that she owed him $300. He then took her to his house, where he is said to have sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
  3. The victim fought back. The report states that somehow, the victim managed to get the knife off Slaton and use it to stab him in the butt. She also severed his penis by biting it off, according to the account Slaton later gave to police.
  4. She managed to get away. Though Slaton tried to chase her down after the incident, thankfully, she managed to get out of the house and ran to a local Waffle House, where 911 was called.
  5. Slaton was arrested. When police arrived at Slaton’s house, there was blood all over the place and the victim’s story was corroborated. Slaton was immediately arrested, though he did have to take a trip to a local hospital to undergo surgery for his severed member.
  6. He’s a long-time sex offender with a terrible history. Slaton has been on the registered sex offenders list since 1989 and has convictions dating back to 1977, many of them extremely violent. In 1990, he was convicted of aggravated sodomy and attempt to commit rape, while a 1989 conviction for voyeurism also exists, among others.
  7. He was actually released and put on house arrest. After putting up $75,000 bond, Slaton was given conditional release based on home incarceration. The judge who made the decision said he did so based on feedback from law enforcement officers, Slaton’s lawyer, and employees of the local jail. Neither Slaton nor the victim came to the bond hearing.
