Instagram Model Raises More Than $300,000 For Australian Bushfires By Selling Nudes For $10

Every once in a while, an unlikely hero emerges and does something so amazing and awe-inspiring that you just have to admire them. Such is the case with Instagram model and influencer Kaylen Ward, who has raised more than $300,000 for the Australian bushfire victims by selling her nudes for $10 each.

The system is ingenious in its simplicity. Kaylen has sold nudes for cash before, but she suddenly had an idea: why not use that money to donate to an important cause like fighting the Australian bushfires? In the end, she revealed that she would send a unique nude to everyone who could prove that they’d donated at least $10 to any of the organizations fighting the fires.

It didn’t take long for the messages to start pouring in. Not long after Kaylen posted her offer, hundreds and then thousands of private messages began pouring into her account with screenshots of donations made. Kaylen made good on her offer, though given that she soon received over 20,000 messages, it soon became overwhelming to keep up with them all. She’s not giving up, though!

She had no idea what an impact she would have. Kaylen, who asked followers to donate to the NSW Rural Fire Service, Victorian Country Fire Service, Red Cross or certain koala hospitals across the country, thought she might make “a few thousand dollars” by selling nudes. Little did she realize how much the idea would take off and how quickly!

Some people have to ruin a good thing. The 20-year-old Texan revealed that some people were passing around her nudes for free even to those who hadn’t met the conditions of her offer, which kinda sucks. “People that have donated are offering my nudes for free to those who haven’t. Honestly y’all are so sick and you’re about to ruin it for everyone,” she wrote.

Instagram tried to ruin the charitable efforts as well. Once Kaylen’s project started making the rounds online, it wasn’t long before Instagram shut down her account and banned her from the social media network for apparently violating its terms of service. Kaylen insists she did nothing wrong, but her messages to Instagram have gone unanswered and they even deleted her second account, which she created following the first account loss. Ugh, NOT COOL, Instagram.

Kaylen has faced a bunch of backlash but she’s not giving up. Since she’s still going strong on Twitter, where you can do whatever you’d like with little issue, Kaylen revealed that she’s had backlash not just online but from her family and the guy she liked. Oh well – the impact she’s making in the world is much more important than that and she won’t be deterred. “My IG got deactivated, my family disowned me, and the guy I like won’t talk to me all because of that tweet. But f**k it, save the koalas,” she wrote. You go, Kaylen. You’re the hero this world needs!
