Kim Kardashian was in for a rude awakening after she was attacked by Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette. In the latest episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim was seen cozying up to the late Chanel director’s $13 million pet as she was hoping to take the animal as an accessory to the Met Gala. Needless to say, Choupette wasn’t feeling it.
Karl Lagerfeld was the theme for the 2023 Met Gala
While Lagerfeld was a notoriously horrible, bigoted man, he made some big contributions to the fashion world, so all is well and he apparently deserved celebrating. So much so that the entire 2023 Met Gala was based around him!
Kim Kardashian thought there would be no better way to honor Lagerfield than to take Choupette with her to the soiree, so she went to meet him while in Paris with her son Saint and his soccer friends. Needless to say, all didn’t go as planned.
Kim had high hopes for their meeting
In a VT on the episode, Kim explained that she wanted to meet up with Choupette in person so that they were more familiar with each other by the time the Met Gala came around.
“So we just left London, and our next leg on our soccer tour is to Paris, to see Paris Saint Germain play, and while I’m here, I have a little meeting with Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, because Choupette is supposed to be my date for the Met. I want to spend some time with her, get to know her, and just see if we vibe,” she explained.
At this point, she was pretty excited. However, she was also a little apprehensive, especially since Choupette has a pretty big reputation.
“Guys, is this cat gonna like me?” Kim joked. “I literally feel like I’m going on a blind date.”
It seems like she had reason to worry!

Choupette is not a Kim Kardashian fan
Kim Kardashian went to meet Choupette with Lucas Berullier, Choupette’s agent (yes, the cat has an agent!), and her caregiver, Françoise Caçote. At this point, Choupette was in a cat carrier and Kim waxed poetic about how she did a photoshoot with Lagerfeld when she was pregnant with her daughter North.
Once Choupette was out of her carrier and on the couch, Kim gave her a little pet. However, it wasn’t long before the cat had enough and turned away before hissing at Kim.
While Choupette’s caregivers insisted she “won’t do anything do you,” Kim tried to laugh it off and pretend like it was all fine. “I think Choupette is playing hard to get, maybe she just has to warm up, you know?” she said in a confessional.
However, when she tried to pet Choupette again, she was met with another hiss. The cat also hated when Kim tried to hold her and nearly attacked the reality star to get away from her.
In the end, Choupette got to stay home.
The meeting between Kim Kardashian and Choupette went so badly that Kim dropped the plans to take the cat to the Met Gala in 2023. However, Jared Leto did dress up as Choupette, so I guess that’s a happy medium?
