Man Arrested For Biting The Seagull That Stole His McDonald’s Meal

A British man has been arrested for biting a seagull that stole his McDonald’s meal. The unnamed 26-year-old was taken into custody near Derry’s Cross in the English town of Plymouth on Thursday, July 9. This has to be one of the strangest criminal acts you’ll hear about all week!

  1. The man was spotted attacking the seagull by officers. Officers from the Charles Cross neighborhood were patrolling around Raleigh Street just before 3 p.m. with other agencies. They were helping a homeless man when they heard a commotion and saw what was going on.
  2. He claimed he was being “attacked” for his McDonald’s. When the seagull stole the man’s McDonald’s food, he flew into a rage, grabbed the bird, and bit it. “He sunk his teeth into it before throwing it to the floor,” a police spokesperson told Plymouth Live. “Officers had seen the incident and immediately went over and detained and took details from him.”
  3. The man admitted that he was on drugs. “Around this time, the man volunteered the information that he was under the influence of drugs and it was decided that he should be taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment,” the police statement continued. “The seagull was clearly injured by the incident but flew off before we were able to check on its welfare. We don’t know what happened to it afterward.”
  4. There’s no excuse for attacking animals. While seagulls can be very aggressive and definitely are guilty of stealing many people’s foods while they’re trying to enjoy their time outdoors, there’s still no excuse for abusing animals. It’s hard to say how the problem of seagulls being pests can be best dealt with, but it’s safe to say that biting them isn’t the best answer.
  5. Hopefully the seagull survived the ordeal and is okay. Hopefully it won’t steal any more fries, either!
