Man Arrested In His Underwear For Drinking Wine From Moving Tanker Truck On Highway Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office

A California man was arrested after a bizarre incident that saw him climb aboard a tanker truck on a Modesto highway and begin guzzling wine while only wearing his underwear. Dashcam footage captured the bizarre event which led to the arrest of 39-year-old Gabriel Moreno and the whole thing is one of the strangest you’ll ever see.

  1. Wait, so what actually happened? The driver of a Cherokee Freight Lines truck was traveling down Highway 99 in Modesto when Moreno, who was driving a sedan, flashed his hazard lights so the truck, which was carrying wine, would pull over. That’s when things took an even crazier turn.
  2. Moreno jumped out wearing only his underwear. While the truck driver originally assumed Moreno was having mechanical issues, when they saw him jump out only wearing underwear and run towards the truck before disappearing from view, they pulled back onto the highway.
  3. Suddenly, Moreno was on the truck! A separate camera saw Moreno come back into view on the back of the truck. He then climbed beneath the truck while it was traveling at highway speed and opened a valve before he started drinking it straight from the tanker.
  4. The driver suddenly realized something was wrong. When the driver was alerted to the fact that the wine load had gone down by hundreds of pounds, they suddenly realized something was very wrong. According to CBS Sacramento, the driver then called the California Highway Patrol and Moreno was later arrested.
  5. Moreno was arrested on misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and felony vandalism charges. He was released soon after on May 6 but within moments of his release, he got himself rearrested by trying to steal a truck belonging to a landscaping company. He did this on purpose as he was mad about not getting a sandwich as part of his meal at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Hopefully he got his wish on the way back in.
  6. About a thousand gallons of wine were lost in the incident. Most of those were spilled along the highway – I doubt Moreno got much of it.
