Repeat Pedophiles To Be Sent To Penal Colonies In The Arctic For Life Under New Proposals

Russia plans to toughen its child sex laws later this month, with repeat pedophiles being sent to penal colonies in the arctic for life, MailOnline reports. Those who abuse children would be sent to work in Siberian mines, parliamentary speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said, adding that rapists “cannot be called human” and that “these b******s should undergo the hardest of labor.”

The law is a direct result of a recent crime. This week, a 5-year-old girl was abducted by a pedophile and his lover, raped, and stabbed to death. Veronika Nikolayeva was kidnapped while playing near her mother’s workplace in Kostroma and the whole thing was caught on video. While she “struggled and fought back,” passersby ignored the kidnap and the men took her away, with her body later being found in a duffle bag. Denis Gerasimov, 44, and Vadim Belyakov, 24, were later named as the suspects and later confessed.

Gerasimov had previously been convicted of pedophilia. The fact that he was able to re-offend and even murder a child is unthinkable and has pushed Russia’s parliament to take action. “Let’s do everything for the law on life sentences for pedophiles to be adopted in January,” Volodin said.

Prisoners sent to the penal colonies will never return. Under Volodin’s plan, all pedophiles will be forced to live out their lives in the worst possible conditions. “Those convicted for such crimes should serve life sentences in the harshest conditions – in the extreme north (of Russia) or in mines,” Volodin said. “These b******s should undergo the hardest labor, so they remember the crimes they committed every day – and regret them.”

MPs are said to be behind the proposal. Alexander Khinstein, an important MP in the pro-Putin United Russia Party, believes the move is a good one. “It is necessary to adopt our bill on life punishment for pedophile-rapists as soon as possible,” he said. He also believes that anyone convicted of a sex crime for the first time and released from jail should be forced to wear an electronic tag.
