10 Things Every Woman Should Know About Going Down On A Guy

Ah, giving a blowjob: an experience revered by many, feared by others. Whether or not you love giving head or you only bless your guy with a bit of head on a special occasion, here are some things that every girl from beginner to novice should know about going down on him.

  1. Slobber is good. For some reason, there’s a tendency to not want to spit on people (call it common courtesy), but when it comes to downtown antics, wetter can be better. A dry rub is much more difficult to pull off successfully due to the tugging in strange directions. Don’t be afraid to get as much moisture on that thing as possible. It’ll make the whole thing a lot better for both of you.
  2. It’s different with every guy. When you talk about whether or not size really matters, you’re not usually referring to getting down. Of course, this is going to change things dramatically from person to person. One guy might be a piece of cake to get off, while another can’t even fit in. It’s important to realize that when going down on a guy, it’s not a one-size-fits-all experience.
  3. You should definitely use your hands. Yeah, the idea is to get it in your mouth, but most people can’t get it all in (or not for long), so keep a hand on there and work them both at once. He doesn’t care, he just wants it to feel good. Use your hands to gently massage his balls, to move along the shaft of his penis as you suck, and to even pop a finger in his butt if that’s something he’s into.
  4. He’ll enjoy being teased. Just the way that you probably like teasing and warming up, he does too. When you’re going down on a guy, kiss his thighs (one of the most sensitive places you should be kissing your guy!) and the shaft of his penis first instead of just shoving it in your mouth. Giving a blowjob can and should be a sensual experience, after all.
  5. Licks are good. When your mouth gets tired of holding it all, switch to taking long licks from the base to the tip, keeping in mind that the top is particularly sensitive. Keep your tongue flat as opposed to pointy for the most coverage and comfort. You’ll be ready to get back in there in no time.
  6. Apply suction without being a vacuum. You’re not literally trying to suck anything out of him when going down on a guy, but some gentle suction will create more skin-on-skin contact than if your mouth is more slack. It should build naturally if you keep your lips close when you move up and down.
  7. Don’t be afraid of the other dangly bits. You’ve heard it a million times not to ignore the little buddies, but what exactly do you do with them? Experiment with stroking them and gently massaging them like you have those little meditation bits in your hand. His balls need love too.
  8. Ease up when he’s coming. Once it’s happening, it’s happening, and things tend to get way more sensitive. While you shouldn’t back off completely, you can release some pressure so you don’t hurt the guy. Take a cue from his body language and if all else fails, ask him what he wants in that moment. Chances are, he’ll just want to enjoy his orgasm.
  9. Swallow… if you want. A lot of guys prefer when girls take it down the hatch like pros (who knows why?), but it’s your body, so only do what you’re comfortable with. There’s a lot of debate on how many calories are in semen, but the average guess is less than a calorie per ejaculation. Just in case you were worried.
  10. If you relax, you might enjoy it too. Yes, it can be done really badly, but most people don’t get great at things without practice. If you’re ever unsure about what he likes, just ask him – he probably has a whole list of his favorite moves ready to go. If he’s happy, you’re more likely to be, as well.
