10 Cliche Signs A Guy Wants To Commit To You That Actually Happen

When you finally meet an amazing new guy, there’s always one nagging thought at the back of your mind: how do you know if he actually wants to be your boyfriend? Sometimes it can feel like you’re hoping to solve the most complicated mystery ever, but honestly, when a guy’s thinking about you long-term, it’s more obvious than you think.

  1. He clears space in his bedroom drawer and/or buys you a toothbrush. This is one of those classic go to-signs and it still holds true today. If the guy that you’re seeing is really into you, he won’t have any problem clearing space in his apartment and his life for you. You’re already sleeping over a lot and he definitely wants that to continue. He wants you to be a bigger part of his world and this is how he knows to show it. Basically, he’s trying to be really obvious here.
  2. He cooks you dinner. If you don’t swoon when the new guy that you’re crazy about offers to make you dinner, you’re made of stone. Just kidding… kind of. It’s super sweet when a guy does this because he honestly really wants to impress you. He’s hoping that with this meal, you’ll realize that he’s total boyfriend material.
  3. He makes cheesy romantic gestures. Did he just buy you a bouquet of flowers just because? Get you a necklace because he thought that it would look good on you? Stock your fave beer at his place? He’s interested in being your boyfriend for sure. Guys who don’t want to commit would never, ever put in the time and effort to do things like this.
  4. He kisses you with feeling. A kiss is just a kiss… unless two people are super into each other and it becomes so much more. How does this guy kiss you? Does it seem super romantic and almost emotional? He’s got it pretty bad and hopefully you do too.
  5. He holds your hand when you watch a movie and PDA doesn’t phase him. Guys who are just looking for hookups and casual situations don’t have time for hand holding. They honestly couldn’t care less about a sweet and adorable gesture like that. If this guy loves holding your hand, there’s a good chance that he’s secretly hoping that you want to be his girlfriend.
  6. He talks about his previous relationships. Guys who are afraid of commitment are never going to share anything with you about their ex-girlfriends. Why would they? That’s not information that they think that you need… and you probably don’t if things aren’t going to work out. A guy who will tell you why he broke up with his last girlfriend and even some of the lessons that he learned from going through a tough time is a guy who wants to be your BF.
  7. He texts you about his day. He tells you that he just ate pizza for lunch or that he’s listening to an awesome podcast because he basically just wants you to know what he’s up to at any given moment. Of course, if you like him as much as he likes you then these details are the most fascinating things that you’ve ever heard. The fact that he’s sharing the tiny moments in his day bodes super well for commitment.
  8. He remembers everything that you say to him—yes, everything. Even the fact that you love every kind of pepper but green and that horror movies freak you out but you still watch them. Only a guy who’s really interested in you is going to recall details like that. Otherwise, that stuff would go in one ear and out the other.
  9. He makes date nights a priority. It might sound cliche to say that a guy who likes you is going to make time for you in his schedule and would never dream of saying that he’s too busy but it’s the honest truth. He doesn’t make lame excuses or cancel because “something came up.” You have regular plans and can always rely on him. This is not only a total breath of fresh air after dating a bunch of losers, it proves that he wants to be your boyfriend.
  10. He mentions the future on a frequent basis. Whether he’s inviting you to his friend’s birthday in a month’s time, claiming that you’ll definitely get along with his sister and mom, or making any kind of reference to the future at all, you can be certain that he’s thinking you’re going to be in his life for a long time. If you’re just as into him then this is the best news ever, so it’s time to stop worrying about his level of interest in you and time to start being his girlfriend.
