10 Qualities Of A Strong, Badass Woman — How Many Do You Have?

What does it mean to be a strong woman? Everyone’s definition will vary, but there are certain characteristics that’ll remain the same across the board. Strong women are confident, headstrong, and determined. Sure, they can be a bit arrogant and boisterous, but what really makes a strong woman is her ability to stay strong in the most difficult situations. If you possess any of these 10 qualities, you’re a badass — congrats!

  1. She’s Independent. There’s nothing wrong with being in a committed relationship and having life-long friends, but a strong woman doesn’t need people. In fact, just the opposite — she thrives when she’s on her own. She’s able to take care of herself, confide in herself, and make her own decisions. That said, she’s not a recluse. While a strong woman doesn’t need people, she has friends she values and knows how to maintain relationships.
  2. She Respects Herself. If you treat her poorly, she’ll walk away. A strong woman won’t just sit back while someone disrespects her. Why would she? She knows what she deserves, and more importantly, what she doesn’t. If you mistreat her, don’t expect her to let it slide.
  3. She Helps Others. Don’t get me wrong, strong women are headstrong — they’re blunt and opinionated. However, they’re also incredibly kind. They don’t just want the best for themselves, they want the best for their friends, family, and random strangers. A strong woman is also the best hype woman. There’s nothing she loves more than building people up!
  4. She’s Brave. A brave woman isn’t immune to fear. She gets scared all the time, she just doesn’t let fear stop her from living. A strong woman knows what she wants out of life and she knows that means she’ll have to occasionally face her fears no matter how difficult they might be.
  5. She’s Passionate. Strong women are passionate about everything they love, whether that’s their career or their relationship. This passion is what makes them such driven and determined individuals in their day-to-day lives. It’s also what makes them so charismatic. People love strong women because of their excitement for life — they see every day as an opportunity to achieve something great.
  6. She’s Optimistic. A strong woman knows life isn’t perfect but she tries to see the good in every situation. That doesn’t mean she has her head in the clouds. She’s a realist at heart and knows the importance of being prepared for any situation. That said, a strong woman believes everything will work out as it should Because of that, she tries not to spend too much time reflecting on the negative or worrying about the “what-if.”
  7. She’s Got Her Finger On The Pulse. She knows what’s going on in the world. While she’s not picking political fights with strangers on Facebook (thank goodness), she does have opinions. She watches the news, gets her information from credible sources, and follows more than just influencers on Instagram. A strong woman has her finger on the pulse of society.
  8. She’s Honest. A strong woman speaks her truth, even if her opinions are controversial. She’s not rude or overly outspoken, but if you ask her what’s on her mind, she’ll tell you. Luckily, strong women are usually articulate and can clearly express their thoughts. You’ll never be in the dark wondering what a strong woman wants because she’ll tell you without you having to ask.
  9. She’s Intelligent. We’re not saying she’s a genius, but strong women are intelligent. They’re well-educated and naturally curious, which is why they’re always asking questions. Have you ever met a strong woman? Chances are you know exactly what we’re talking about. She’s inquisitive and somewhat intrusive, but she means well.
  10. She’s Confident. Strong women know who they are, and they aren’t afraid to show other people who they are. While everyone has insecurities, strong women do their best to not let those insecurities define them. They keep pushing forward and stay true to their goals, whatever those goals might be.
