It isn’t easy being a bookworm. Most men are more interested in watching Netflix than picking up a novel. Of course, if you love to read, you need someone with a special set of skills. Not just any man will do. Here are a few things bookworms need in a relationship:

  1. A shoulder to cry on. You need someone who won’t judge you for falling in love with a fictional character or bawling over another character’s death. If he’s freaked out by your obsession with fiction, you won’t last long. After all, reading is a crucial part of your life.
  2. Texts with proper grammar. You cringe whenever a book has a typo in it, and you’d do the same if your boyfriend sent you a text littered with errors. You love words, which is why you hate when people butcher them. You need a man with a good grasp on the english language.
  3. Alone time. You can’t concentrate when the TV is blasting or when your man is trying to have a conversation with you, even though he sees you’re busy. That’s why you need someone who doesn’t mind leaving you alone for a few hours. If you don’t read enough books, you’ll combust.
  4. Adventure. Sitting alone in a corner reading a book doesn’t sound all that exciting, but that’s far from the truth. The reason you love reading so much is because it transports you to other worlds. You crave adventure, which is why you need someone willing to go on crazy quests with you.
  5. Deep conversations. You want to stay up late, discussing intricate details about the universe. That’s why your boyfriend needs to be intelligent, so that he can keep up with you. If he isn’t able to stimulate your brain, then you won’t want to keep him around.
  6. Hypothetical conversations. Once your intellectual conversations are done, you’ll want to talk about whether Harry Potter or Katniss would win in a fight. The crazier the question, the better. You have a huge imagination, which means that nothing is off limits.
  7. Creative gifts. Bookworms don’t want to be showered with expensive gifts. You’d rather receive a poem, a scrapbook, or a love letter. That’s why you need a man who isn’t afraid of getting in touch with his sensitive side.
  8. The chance to travel. You’ve read about some pretty amazing places. That’s why the list of countries you want to visit is a mile long. You need to be with a man who’s willing to travel around the world with you, because you won’t be happy staying in one place forever.
  9. Passion. You’ve read about men who have fought and died for their true love. If your boyfriend wants to measure up to all of the fictional characters you’ve fallen for, he’s going to have to try pretty hard. That means he’s going to have to kiss you like he means it and take you on incredibly romantic dates.
  10. A man who actually likes to read. It’s hard to date someone who prefers the movie versions of stories to the original books. You’d prefer to be with someone who loves reading as much as you do, so you can swap novels, browse through bookstores together, and attend author signings.
