Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, you were perfectly content with the idea that love would find you. That’s totally changed now. You search for love as if it’s a new pair of jeans, and you spend a lot of time completely worn out and frustrated. If you’ve been single for a long time, you’ve probably wanted to give up on love completely, especially during these times:

  1. When you can’t get a single date. You don’t get it. You’re on Tinder (and OkCupid, too). You message tons of people. You carry on decent convos. You’re not clingy or weird. But somehow, you haven’t had a date in a month and you have no idea why.
  2. When your best friend meets an amazing guy. You’re happy for her, of course, but you’d be lying if you said this didn’t completely suck. You’re basically dreading her engagement Facebook post already.
  3. When you’re temped to message your ex. This is how bad things have gotten: you’re thinking about messaging your ex-boyfriend. Yeah, that ex-boyfriend — the one that seriously broke you, the one that took forever to get over, the one that is totally wrong for you. You can’t believe you’re going down this road again.
  4. When you find yourself in another almost situation. Ugh. Not again. You’re so tired of almost relationships, it’s not even funny. And yet here you are, dating yet another guy who’s afraid of commitment and a real in-person connection that doesn’t involve texting.
  5. When you’re ignored via text. You just texted this guy after the third date — nothing crazy, just a simple thank you for an awesome time. Apparently that was nuts because now he’s ghosting you big time. Since when is a third date no big deal?
  6. When you’re having the worst week ever. You come down with an epic cold, your boss is pressuring you, you have zero time to yourself. It happens to everyone and it feels so much worse without that special person in your life to cuddle with and tell you everything will be totally cool.
  7. When you’ve lost all hope. You just don’t think there’s one person out there for you anymore. If there was, well, where is he? You rest your case.
  8. When you can’t answer questions anymore. The ones on dates that sum up your hobbies and work life. The ones from your mom about whether you’ve tried that new dating app (yes, and no, it doesn’t work). The ones from your BFFs about what’s new with your love life (nothing).
  9. When romance sickens you. You get to a certain point in your solo life when you no longer cry at Nicholas Sparks movies, but get totally annoyed instead. You think romance is stupid and you don’t expect it to show up anytime soon.
  10. When you just can’t even. The single and dating life is totally exhausting you. Boring online conversations, dull first date questions, ghosting, confusion, texting, how to define what you are — it’s all just too much. You’re one creepy message away from giving up on love entirely, and you don’t think that’s being too dramatic.
