Sometimes in life, we don’t have things all figured out, and that’s OK. Life throws curveballs and we can never see them coming. We get knocked down time and time again and eventually get to a point where we need to step back and just figure things out. It can be scary, but keep these 10 things in mind and you’ll be just fine:

  1. Give it time. All good things come in time, so instead of trying to rush things, work with what you have. Don’t push for things before their time. After all, a masterpiece doesn’t happen overnight.
  2. Be patient. Patience is a virtue, and when you’re waiting for your life to fall into place, it’s actually teaching you a lesson on how to wait. Sometimes we become overeager or anxious while waiting for that big change to come. Don’t worry, it will eventually. Just wait for it.
  3. Trust the process. We all need to slow down and evaluate things at some point. Life is about growth and moving forward. Maturity is a process, and you have to trust that process instead of skipping ahead. This process allows for you to heal, to learn, and to understand yourself better. You might be surprised at what you find.
  4. Continue to do the things you love to do. It’s important to stay active and continue doing the things that make you happy. Don’t get so focused on the end goal that you forget to enjoy the journey. Do what you love, what makes you smile, and what brings you joy.
  5. Don’t become a hermit. When we’re in the midst of figuring out your life, it can get easy to neglect your relationships with the ones that love you. It’s OK to give yourself some space, but don’t distance yourself too much for too long. You need people, and people need you.
  6. Your friends and family have your back. No matter how much time it takes, your friends and family and the ones who really care about you will still be there for you at the end of the day. They’re rooting for you and they’ll always be there to catch you when you fall.
  7. Keep pushing. It won’t be easy, and there will be times when you want to give up, but don’t. There’s a lesson in the struggle, and strength that will come after the storm has passed. Keep pushing and I promise something good will come out of it.
  8. Everything will work out the way it should. Have faith and trust that things will work out. Maybe you can’t see it now, but you’ll look back and be grateful for getting through those moments of trial and hardship.
  9. Every ending is a new beginning. Instead of looking at the door that closes, look towards the one that has inevitably opened. With every decision, you make a sacrifice, but with every sacrifice comes another opportunity. Keep breaking down those barriers and seizing the moment.
  10. It’s never too late to be what you might have been. George Eliot’s infamous saying makes sense. Don’t let your age dictate what you want out of life. You only get one life and you might as well make the most of it. Life is too short to regret the things you never did, so take a leap of faith and go after your dreams.
