10 Things Successful, Badass Women Have In Common

You can’t be a successful, kickass woman without a solid morning routine. It’s basically the law. There are a bunch of things that every amazing woman does before getting her day started—here are some that you should adapt too.

  1. Waking up early AF Do successful people sleep until noon? Nope, definitely not. They wake up pretty early (think 6 a.m. at least) and they love it. There’s just something kind of magical about that time of day when it’s quiet and the whole day is ahead and anything could happen. It’s totally full of possibility. Even if you hate early mornings and adore sleeping in, you can probably see how giving yourself more time to feel awake and get ready will reduce your stress level. What’s better, rushing around like a crazy person so you’re not late for work or setting your alarm a little earlier? Exactly.
  2. Drinking lemon water What do food bloggers, celebrities, and lifestyle figures have in common? They all seem to drink a cup of hot water with lemon as soon as they open their eyes in the morning. Yeah, it might sound a bit weird, but hey, it works for them. Can’t be badass when you’re totally dehydrated.
  3. Meditating Yup, successful women are really into meditation. It’s a thing. Their days are so crazy busy that they need that time to chill out and get ready for whatever happens in the next few hours. If that sounds hard, don’t worry—everyone who meditates either hated it at first or found it impossible. You can give it a try and you just might love it.
  4. Writing down daily and weekly goals No one can get anything done without having a game plan. Every successful woman totally writes down her goals for the day when she wakes up, whether it’s something as simple as making it to a yoga class or something more complicated like taking the first step toward getting her dream job. Badass women totally get that nothing gets done in a single day, so they’ll write down weekly dreams too.
  5. Reading or listening to a podcast This is all thanks to that early wakeup call. Any woman who’s killing her career likes to have at least 20-30 minutes in the a.m. to read a book or listen to something. It’s a nice break in a nuts day and that “me time” is totally crucial. The podcast is probably business related or features interviews with super cool people who are crushing their own careers.
  6. Actually eating breakfast Most amazing women eat breakfast, and it’s usually something trendy AF. Think avocado toast, eggs, overnight oats, or a smoothie. If it can be Instagrammed with the prettiest picture ever, a successful woman is eating it for breakfast. Can’t run the world on an empty stomach.
  7. Repeating mantras Successful women repeat a motto to themselves before they leave the house in the morning or when they’re doing their hair or makeup. They write down quotes on post-notes and put them on the bathroom mirror. They know that they’re good enough but it doesn’t hurt to have some daily reminders, especially before a big day.
  8. Exercising, doing yoga, or stretching Anyone who is anyone in their industry definitely loves to work out. Exercise is such a great thing for your body and mind and gives you a chance to zone out of your nuts life. It might sound weird to think of working out as relaxing, but honestly, it kind of is. Total boss babes either get in a run, do some yoga, or just some light stretching before starting their day. It can’t really be a bad idea, can it?
  9. Reading the news It’s not cool to have no clue what’s going on in the world. A common morning routine is definitely reading the news, whether an actual physical newspaper or online. Both totally count. In this day and age when everyone would totally rather scroll through Instagram selfies instead of news articles, the coolest people know that staying informed is key to success. At the most, you’ll keep developing your sense of empathy and at the very least, you’ll have some small talk ready for business meetings or networking.
  10. Eating the frog. People talk about this all the time. “Eating the frog” means doing the one thing that you really, really don’t want to do. Whether you have to write a difficult email or brainstorm something, you should just do it and do it as early as possible. This will make the rest of your day amazing since you will be super relieved and super happy that you got it out of the way. If it works for successful people, it can totally work for you too, right?
