10 Thoughts You Have When It Seems Like He Might Be “The One”

When you’re dating someone new, you go through an inevitable process of trying to figure out if he’s worth your time and energy. Most guys don’t make the cut, but what about when you find one that does? When you’ve been scouring the Earth for your soulmate and you think this one might finally be it, here are some thoughts that might cross your mind:

  1. “Wow, it’s true! All men aren’t a-holes!”It can be easy to forget this when you’ve dated a long string of players, liars, and abusive men. It may not seem like it sometimes, but there really are good guys left in the world.
  2. “How did I get so lucky?”When you’re finally with a good guy and being treated the way you deserve, it’s tempting to chalk it up to luck or possibly divine intervention. However, the reality is that it’s most likely simple probability. When you’ve lost the dating lottery several times in a row, your odds of winning on the next try will increase. That’s why you can’t let the losers in your past prevent you from trying again; you don’t want to miss out on a winner.
  3. “Am I ready for this?”When you’re looking for love, sometimes you’re not prepared for what will happen if you actually find it. When you do, it can feel really overwhelming.
  4. “I was getting so good at being single!” Sometimes being single sucks, but it can get really comfortable when you’re single long-term. You don’t necessarily want to stay single, but you do feel a certain nostalgia when you look back on your single years.
  5. “It feels weird to be dating seriously again.”You’ve spent a considerable amount of time as an awesome party of one, internally making fun of the gooey-eyed couples who can’t keep their hands off each other. Suddenly, you’ve caught feelings and you’re half of one of those lovey-dovey couples. It feels really weird to make that transition, but you know he’s worth it.
  6. “I could literally cuddle with him forever.”When you’re with that special someone who could be The One, it feels like you could lose yourself in his arms forever. Who needs to go to work? Seems like we’re both feeling sick today and need to stay home in bed all day…together.
  7. “I hope I don’t scare him off. When a relationship is new, you walk a fine line when it comes to expressing your feelings. You want to reveal enough to let him know how much you like him, but you don’t want to say too much and risk scaring him away just as things are getting good.
  8. “I hope my friends/family like him.” Obviously, you’ll still like him regardless of their opinion, but it would be really nice if this wonderful new addition to your life also fit into your family and social circle perfectly.
  9. “I hope his friends/family like me.”It’s already an adjustment when you’re in a new relationship. The thought of meeting his friends and family can be intimidating. In the back of your mind, you can’t help but wonder how much influence they have on his decisions. If they don’t approve, will it spell the end of the relationship? Probably not, but the thought can be unnerving.
  10. “This could be the start of my forever.”It’s a scary but wonderful feeling when you may have found the one you can love forever. Even though you still have fear and doubt, the excitement and hope you feel are more overwhelming than the fear.
