Celebrating 101 years on this earth is an incredible achievement and an elderly man named known only as Owen is about to do just that. Unfortunately, his upcoming birthday celebration had to be canceled given everything that’s happening in the world, so instead, he’s hoping to get 101,000 likes on social media to cheer him up. - How can you not want to make Owen smile? “Hello! I am Owen. I am turning 101 on March 31st. My birthday party was canceled bc of social distancing,” his message read. “Help me celebrate by getting 101k likes/comments!”
- It doesn’t cost a penny to give a like. Mohamad Safa, the CEO of Patriotic Vision and permanent representative at United Nations, posted Owen’s photo on his Twitter account on Saturday and already has nearly 139,000 likes. However, just because Owen has reached his goal doesn’t mean we can’t go above and beyond. Imagine how amazing it would be if we could get it to 202,000 likes!
- So many people have sent well-wishes. In addition to all the likes, loads of other Twitter users have sent happy birthday messages, gifs, and other bits of encouragement. At this point, there are so many responses that it’s unlikely Owen will ever get a chance to read them all, but if he’s stuck in self-isolation, the messages might keep him company!
- Hopefully his 102nd birthday party will be even better. While he may not be able to celebrate his 101st birthday in the way that he would have liked, hopefully Owen will be able to throw a massive celebration unlike anything anyone has ever seen for his 102nd birthday and it’ll be the best thing ever. In the meantime, send him a message and a like and hopefully he’ll still have a great birthday this year despite everything that’s going on.
