12 Qualities That Make A Guy Instant Dating Material

When you know, you know. Okay, maybe that’s a little optimistic … but there are definite qualities you should look for in a guy you’re just beginning to date. If he has these traits, snatch him up before someone else does:

  1. A strong moral foundation. Make fun of me all you want, but this is important. Do you want to be with a good man or a douchebag? Pick the guy who knows right from wrong and who will speak up to defend his moral code.
  2. Good values. He understands what’s really important in life, and he isn’t afraid to express it. You won’t find this man screwing around with other girls or blowing his money on stupid stuff. He’s too mature for all that nonsense. He values everything that truly matters, including you.
  3. Good manners.  He says please and thank you. He’s considerate of others. He opens doors, shows patience with children and gives his seat to elderly people on the subway. It’s not that hard to do, but so many men are lazy and selfish when it comes to displaying proper etiquette.
  4. Respect for other people (including but definitely not limited to you). He’s a feminist, because what ignorant fool doesn’t see that men and women should be equal? He doesn’t define anyone by race, or religion, or gender, or sexual preference. He sees everyone as unique individuals, all deserving of fair treatment and respect.
  5. Love for animals. If a guy doesn’t like animals, run. There’s nothing good there. How can you trust someone who feels that way? If he’s kind to and cares for all animals, that’s a positive sign. Bonus points if he has some of his own or volunteers with them.
  6. Respect for the earth. People who abuse the planet we live on are garbage themselves. If he’s proactive about helping the environment and living sustainably, he’s a good egg. There’s nothing wrong with someone who’s socially conscious and responsible.
  7. A genuine heart. These seem hard to come by these days, so snatch him up immediately. A man who’s open and honest and kind and simple is the best kind of man. Superficiality and shallowness aren’t a part of his vocabulary. He doesn’t even understand how to behave in a way that’s untrue to himself.
  8. Honesty and vulnerability. These are hallmarks of the mature grown-up male. He’s not so hung up on himself and his insecurities that he acts like a child. He understands that a strong woman such as yourself deserves only the best he can offer. This man deserves your time and consideration!
  9. An awesome sense of humor. It’s pretty hard to date someone who takes everything too seriously. If he’s able to laugh at life and himself, he’s a great person to have around. Everyone likes a guy who makes her giggle. What’s not to love?
  10. A grounded, centered attitude. His life philosophy is rooted in a substantial appreciation for what he has. He’s grateful for every little thing and has a positive outlook. He’s realistic but also hopeful. His calm, serene optimism is a trait you shouldn’t ignore. It makes him someone worth keeping.
  11. Acceptance of others for who they are. You want to date this guy because he’ll accept you for who you are also! He’s not judgmental, petty or cruel. He has no time to waste criticizing other people because he’s too busy building an amazing life for himself. Hopefully, you can be right there alongside him.
  12. The ability to see the bright side. He never takes anything in his life for granted, and that will include you! He’s naturally happy without being overly cheery or obnoxious. He simply radiates an energy that draws people to him. Get there before some other lucky girl does. Who wouldn’t want a guy like that?
