Not every guy in the world is trustworthy and worth your time, but not every guy is setting out to play you and break your heart either. While some guys don’t mean anything they say, others are loyal to their words. If you’ve been dating him for a while and you’ve started to catch feelings, it’s only natural that you want to make sure he really likes you. - He Drops Plans When You Need Him. I’m not saying he should cancel on his friends whenever you ask him to, but a guy who truly cares will make you a priority. Yes, that means ditching the occasional guys’ night to take care of you when you’re sick. He doesn’t have to revolve his life around yours, but his actions should show how valued you are.
- He’s Open With His Emotions. If a guy cares about you, you’ll 100% know it. You won’t constantly wonder whether he’s interested or if he’s dating other people. You’ll know where you stand, and hopefully, that’s by his side. If you’re always doubting his feelings, that’s a pretty good sign he’s not fully invested.
- He Makes Plans For The Future. This is a good sign he not only cares about you, but he sees a long-term future with you. Making plans, even for something as small as where you’ll have dinner next month or vacation over the summer, shows how invested he is in a future with you. Trust me, he wouldn’t be making plans if he didn’t care.
- He Won’t Leave You On “Read.” A guy who truly cares won’t ignore your messages on purpose. Period. He’ll respond every single time. He’ll respond when you’re screaming at him via text (not that you should do that a lot). He’ll respond when you’re asking him whether he still loves you over text (not that you should do that a lot either). Regardless of what you say, he won’t leave you on “read.”
- He’s Not Selfish In The Bedroom. It’s not all about him. He makes sure you’re satisfied, even if that means getting a little creative in between the sheets. Obviously, there’s more to a relationship than sex, but it’s a good sign that he cares enough about you to make sure you’re going to sleep with a smile on your face (wink wink).
- He’s Protective Over You. He never wants to see you hurt. If your friend makes you mad or your coworker disrespects you, he’s ready to confront them. He cares about you, and that means he’s very protective! If a creepy guy hits on you, he’ll step in. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he fights every guy that gets a little too close, but he does his best to ensure you’re out of danger while also respecting that you know how to take care of yourself.
- He’s An Active Listener. When you talk, he’s not staring at your chest or impatiently waiting for you to finish. He’s listening! He’s asking questions and actually retaining that information. Not everyone is a good listener, but a guy who cares about you will pay attention to what you say and remember every detail (well, at least the important details).

Sure, he might not always be available at the drop of a hat, but you always know what he’s doing and where he is. - He Puts His Phone Down. Unfortunately, we live in a digital age where everyone’s pretty much addicted to their phones. If a guy cares about you, he’ll put his phone down while you’re together. He won’t text while you’re talking or mindlessly scroll through Instagram while you’re eating dinner. He’ll give you his undivided attention.
- He Does Things You Hate. A guy who truly cares will make sacrifices on your behalf. He’ll watch a movie he has zero interest in and eat at a vegan restaurant he thinks is insanely overpriced. He’ll go out of his way to do things just to make you happy — even if they make him unhappy for a couple of hours.
- He’s Honest. He doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear. He tells you the truth, which you might not always like. I’m not saying he should insult you or make you feel insecure about anything, but he should care too much about you to lie. - He’s Your Biggest Support System. He encourages your dreams and supports your goals. He’s your number one fan, and that’s exactly what a boyfriend should be.
