A healthy relationship is based on mutual respect and giving each other freedom. If your partner tries to control what you wear, who you spend time with, or how you spend your money, they’re controlling and have crossed a line. People who use their power to manipulate or control you have a warped view of what love is. Maintaining your independence and sense of self in a relationship is important, and never tolerate someone trying to control or coerce you.

Let them know you will not tolerate this behavior, and if it continues to happen, leave.
