This $18 Million Underground Bomb Shelter Mansion Is The Perfect Place To Wait Out The Apocalypse

I don’t know about you, but 2020 makes it feel like the apocalypse is seriously upon us. What’s next, nuclear war? One homeowner in Las Vegas has been precipitating that one for years now and built an $18 million underground bomb shelter mansion that looks like the perfect place to wait out all the chaos and emerge when everything has calmed down again.

  1. The Las Vegas Underground House is the stuff of legends. People have been talking about the bomb shelter mansion, which is located about two miles east of the Vegas Strip, for years. At 14,620 sq ft, it’s made of concrete and steel and is basically impenetrable. Thankfully, extensive photos have been taken so let the rest of us in on what lies beneath.
  2. This bomb shelter mansion has everything you could ever want or need. While its primary function is to protect against nuclear devastation, you might as well have a good time while you’re there. Not only is there a giant home within full of all the modern conveniences you could desire, but there’s also a big back yard with an inground pool, a guest house, a spa, trees, a BBQ (not sure how that one would work with no ventilation!), and loads of murals of the city and mountains. Lights in the shelter mimic daylight and nighttime.
  3. Up to 12 people could theoretically live there. The bomb shelter mansion has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, meaning there’s enough room for six couples to move in and relax in safety. Pick your “roommates” carefully, however. You never know how long you’ll be stuck with these people, so hopefully they’re people you actually like.
  4. The decor is pretty quirky, I’d say. Not that I know what to expect from a bomb shelter mansion, but the 1970s style design and decor here really lends a sense of humor to the space, which you kind of need given that if you’re living there, things are likely pretty bad outside.
  5. If you have $18 million to spare, why not buy it? More info is available via Berkshire Hathaway, but something tells me you might have trouble getting a mortgage for this amount!
