You probably have plenty of things on your to-do list while we’re all on lockdown. After all, there’s plenty of Netflix to watch, living room workouts to do, and actual work too. However, if you’re getting bored with your usual hobbies, why not get your learn on by taking one or more free online classes on offer by some of the biggest Ivy League universities?
- There are over 450 courses to choose from. You can take free online courses in pretty much any topic you can think of, from computer science and business to health and medicine and humanities. Pretty much any topic you’re interested in there are likely courses you can take in that subject.
- The courses come courtesy of some pretty stellar schools. So many Ivy League universities came together to offer these classes, from the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Harvard, Brown, Yale, and more. In other words, you know you’re getting the good stuff here. Because the courses are online, you can do them from anywhere (in your home, ha!) and best of all, they’re free!
- You can work at your own pace. While each course does give you a recommended schedule, letting you know how many hours you should plan to spend a week on a module and how many weeks the courses “run,” you really can work at your own pace. If you get extremely busy and need to take 8 weeks instead of 6, you can. If you’re bored and want to blow through lessons more quickly, you can do that too.
- Learning is one of the best forms of self-care. Taking free online courses might seem like a geeky thing to do (and it totally is… in a good way!), but it’s also a great way to look after your mental well-being. Not only will you expand your mind and learn something new but you’ll also take your mind off of everything that’s happening in the world right now, which is pretty heavy.
