93-Year-Old Woman Asks For More Beer During Quarantine—And Coors Light Delivers

Olive Veronesi, a 93-year-old from Seminole, Pennsylvania, has been doing her part to protect herself and others during the global health crisis by staying home. She didn’t really mind all that much, except for one small problem: she was quickly running out of her beloved Coors Light. Last week, she went viral after a family member took a photo of her holding up a whiteboard which said, “I need more beer!” Spoiler alert: she got some.

  1. Beer can be good for you, right? As Veronesi told KDKA TV, “I was on my last 12 cans, I have a beer every night, you know what, beer has vitamins in it, it’s good for you, as long as you don’t overdo it.” She’s not entirely wrong — it does contain valuable nutrients like selenium, B vitamins, phosphorus, folate, niacin, and a bit of fiber and protein too.
  2. Her photo racked up over 10,000 likes and more than 4 million views. Seeing an elderly woman begging for more beer understandably brought a lot of joy and humor to people’s lives, so it’s no surprise that Veronesi went viral. That had the added bonus of catching the eye of someone at her beloved Coors Light brand.
  3. Coors Light came to the rescue. On Monday, April 13, Molton Coors sent a whopping 150 cans of Coors Light to Veronesi’s door free of charge to brighten her days. That should be enough to last her about five months if she sticks to her one-a-day beer intake. How generous!
  4. She wasted no time in cracking one open. Veronesi was thrilled with her Coors Light delivery and opened a can right there on the porch before she even took any inside! “This tastes pretty good!” she said upon taking a swig. I bet – things always taste better when they’re free!
  5. These are the kinds of stories I like to hear! More beer for everyone, especially Olive Veronesi!
