I’m a grown woman, yes, but I’m also a sucker for anything and everything Harry Potter. I don’t care how ridiculous the item, if it’s HP-themed, I’m generally on board. While everyone else is putting out their National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation figurines this holiday season, I’ll be setting up my own personal Harry Potter village right in the middle of my living room, thank you.

- It’s made by Department 56, so you know it’s good. You may recognize them from the aforementioned Christmas Vacation village, and if you do, you also know that they know what they’re doing. Their ceramic pieces are hand-painted and super detailed in ways that true fans will appreciate.
- They’ve literally thought of everything. Not only can you get a replica of Hogwarts and the astronomy tower, but the Harry Potter Christmas village also includes the Crow Creek covered bridge, the Whomping Willow (complete with the stolen car!), Hagrid’s hut, and of course the Hogwart’s Express.
- It’s not just Hogwarts they’re offering. Department 56 has also come out with ceramic versions of all our favorite Diagon Alley favorites. You can get a replica of Gringotts bank and even one of their vaults, Eeylop’s Owl Emporium, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, and Ollivander’s Wand Shop.
- There’s even a replica of Ron’s house. Everyone loves The Burrow, and Department 56 made sure to include that magical house in its village, creating a 9-inch tall towering replica.
- Don’t forget the characters. After you’ve set up all your Harry Potter Christmas village buildings, you’ll need to put the characters into the scene. You can get Fred and George Weasley in a set (of course), Harry and Dumbledore, Hagrid with his Hippogriff, Snape and McGonagall, Ron and Hermione, and Draco Malfoy waiting at Platform 9 3/4.
- You can pick what elements you want. Admittedly, many of the pieces in Department 56’s Harry Potter line are a bit expensive, meaning getting every single piece is likely cost-prohibitive for most people. The good thing is that you can buy each piece separately, so you can get only the things you want and create your own set-up. Not only that, but you don’t even necessarily have to only use these at Christmas. If you have a place the village can be displayed, why not have it out year-’round?
