Ohio Woman Creates ‘Friends’-Themed Chicken Coop Called ‘Central Perch’

An Ohio woman who wanted her pet chickens to have a cool place to hang out made the birds an incredible Friends-themed coop she calls “Central Perch.” Stay-at-home mom Jennifer R. Schmus is a huge fan of the sitcom and decided to do some serious renovations on her backyard coop and we have to admit, the results are incredible!

  1. Schmus has loved Friends for a very long time. Talking to Unilad, she recalled “crying like a crazy person” during the finale when it aired when she was in college back in 2004. She’s rewatched the show many times since then and loves it just as much today as she did back in the ’90s and early ’00s. “[I can] watch every episode over and over and never be sick of it’, adding: ‘I laugh just as much as when I saw it for the first time.
  2. Central Perch is the perfect home for her 17 chickens. Schmus and her family inherited the chickens when they bought their house in November 2019 and while there was already a coop on the property, she decided to give it a Friends-themed makeover to give it a more personal touch.
  3. The details here are amazing. Schmus used paint, vinyl, an old picture frame she spray-painted gold, and even added in some special designs like a stylized “P-I-V-O-T” across one side and “C-H-I-C-K-E-N-S” on the other. By the door of Central Perch, a 2-D chicken exclaims, “We were on a break.” How good is that?
  4. She completed the chickens’ new home in just three days. Schmus said she worked on Central Perch for a couple of hours a day and was able to complete it in just three days, which shows how much energy she put into this project.
  5. The chickens love Central Perch too. Schmus is sure that her feathered friends are loving their new coop, saying, “When I hear our rooster in the morning and throughout the day saying ‘cock-a-doodle-doo,’ I believe he’s saying ‘How you doing?’ to the ladies and also ‘I love my FRIENDS coop… it looks way better now… Thanks.'”
