Man Admits Killing His Ex-Wife By Hanging Her After Seeing Her Wearing New Engagement Ring

A Russian man has admitted killing his wife by hanging her after seeing her wearing a new engagement ring. Ilnar Gimranova, 38, is said to have used a hairdryer cord to hang his naked ex-wife, 32-year-old Ramzia Gimranova, from her balcony after beating her severely, according to the Russian Investigative Committee, as per East2West News. Ramzia was found by her father at the apartment in the city of Kazan.

  1. Ramzia and Ilnar got divorced last year. The couple, who have a 6-year-old daughter together, ended their marriage in 2019 due to Ilnar’s gambling problem and his refusal to stop. According to local news reports, his gambling had built up debts of £5,000, about $7,000 which placed great stress on the marriage.
  2. Ramzia had asked police for protection. A week prior to the murder, Ramzia is said to have gone to local police to request protection for herself and her daughter as she believed Ilnar was stalking her and may harm her. However, it’s unclear if anything was done in relation to her request, and whatever it was, it clearly wasn’t enough to save her life.
  3. Ilnar couldn’t bear the fact that his ex-wife had moved on. As per the committee’s statement: “Having learned that the victim intended to remarry, the attacker came to her house, then beat and strangled her on the balcony. He has confessed his involvement in the commission of the crime in full.”
  4. Ramzia had no plans to get married anytime soon. While she was in a new relationship and had accepted her new partner’s proposal, her friends claim she had no plans to tie the knot anytime soon as she was still traumatized by her relationship with Ilnar. Now, she’ll never have the chance to process that trauma or possibly experience the happiness of a new, healthy relationship. It remains to be seen what consequences Ilnar will face.
