As you get older, you start to appreciate the simple things in life. Take, for instance, toast. As a kid, you probably thought it was boring and not even that delicious. Now that you have more life experience and are a whole lot wiser, you start to realize that there’s kinda nothing tastier or more satisfying than some nice browned bread and a slab of butter. In my books, it doesn’t matter how you cut it, but some people on Twitter are getting into a debate about it.

- Twitter user @shopperbarbie48 showed off three ways to cut toast. This is a big family feud for Barbie, as everyone in her family believes there’s a “right” way to cut toast: length-wise, width-wise, or diagonally. While whatever you decide will have no bearing on how said toast actually tastes, Barbie clearly feels there’s a right answer here.
- A lot of people care about this. While it’s not a topic that really matters to me much, I’m clearly alone in that and a ton of people have really strong opinions. For instance, one person claimed that “#1 is for visitors, #2 is just for you at home and #3 is if sausages are involved.” Another person pointed out that it depends on what kind of toast you’re actually eating.
- Ultimately, there’s no “right” way. “Who decides the correct way? I don’t care how anyone else cuts or doesn’t cut their toast. I shall not share how I cut or do not cut my toast for fear of being ridiculed,” another commenter shared. To be fair, she has a point. At the end of the day, this is all about personal preference and doesn’t actually matter.
- Lest we forget: toast is delicious in all its forms. It literally goes perfectly with so many delicious toppings, from Nutella and peanut butter to jam and even cheese. Cut it however you’d like – just enjoy it!
