A popular Indonesian fitness influencer has tragically died after a freak accident at the gym. Justyn Vicky, 33, was killed by a barbell while attempting a 210kg (260 pounds) squat press during a workout at The Paradise Bali gym in Sanur, E! Online reports.

Vicky was said to be working with a spotter when the bar fell forward onto his neck. He was trying to straighten his legs when the wait of the barbell became too much for him to bear on his shoulders. The spotter was unable to help before Vicky fell over and the barbell fell onto his neck. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital but died due to a broken neck and the compression of vital nerves that connected his heart and lungs. Surgeons did everything possible to save his life, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Paradise Bali posted a tribute message to Justyn Vicky following his death, writing: “Justyn was more than just a fitness expert; he was a beacon of inspiration, motivation, and unwavering support. His infectious energy and genuine passion for helping others transform their lives touched us deeply.”

“Through countless workouts, words of encouragement, and compassionate guidance, he became an irreplaceable part of our fitness journeys and our gym family.”

One of Vicky’s closest friends, Gede Sutarya, also paid tribute to Vick, writing: “Vicky was a good person, polite, and sociable. He always shared knowledge about the gym. He also advised friends at the gym to be cautious and not exceed their capabilities during training. Only we ourselves can measure our own abilities. May Mas Vicky rest peacefully in the embrace of God and find a worthy place.”

It’s clear Justyn Vicky, who was not just a fitness influencer but also a nutritional advisor and bodybuilder, will be missed by many people.
