Depraved Child Murderer Battered By Prisoners After Cell Left Open

A twisted killer who sexually assaulted and then murdered 6-year-old schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail in 2018 was savagely beaten by his fellow inmates in a prison attack after his cell was left open during mealtime. Aaron Campbell was so badly hurt that he had to be hospitalized for his injuries, The Daily Mail reports.

  1. The attack happened at Polmont Young Offenders Institution. Sources say his “tooth was through his lip” as a result of the beating and that the main attacker had to be physically pulled off Campbell as he continued to savagely beat the man.
  2. It’s likely this was a crime of opportunity. It’s unclear whether the inmate who beat Campbell was planning to do so for a while or simply took advantage of a rare opportunity. A prison source believes the latter is the case, saying: “His door was open and someone saw the opportunity and took it. He pushed Campbell onto his bed and started leathering him and got a good few shots in. Campbell wasn’t expecting it at all, he never said anything. He got rushed to hospital after his front tooth ended up sticking through his lip.”
  3. The victim’s family has no sympathy for Campbell. Alesha’s great-grandfather, 79-year-old George Lochrane, said after hearing of the assault on Campbell: “I hope he’s in pain. I hope he’s suffering. The only thing I’m sorry about is that I didn’t get to do it myself.”
  4. Prison staff don’t seem to have much sympathy for him either. The source added: “Everyone in here is happy, staff have been making sly comments that he deserved it. He’s normally kept apart from everyone in here as everyone wants to hang him. They would kill him if they could because of what he did to that wee girl. But there was a brief chance to get at him and the boy took it. He could get a serious assault charge against him but he’s not bothered, he says it was worth it.”
