This Baker Makes Edible Embroidered Cakes That Are Almost Too Beautiful To Eat

A baker has taken beauty to another level with her embroidery cakes that combine gorgeous edible decorations like flowers and plants with delicate, hand-drawn designs that look like intricately stitched thread. Leslie Vigil, a cake artist from Ontario, California and a self-described “buttercream enthusiast,” makes all kinds of beautiful creations but these ones really do take the cake, so to speak.

  1. She hand-pipes succulents, flower buds, and more. They tend to be done in beautiful, vibrantly colored frostings that pop out from all different angles of the cake. Because of this, the cake becomes a truly 3-D experience that seems so alive and full of bloom.
  2. The embroidery cakes really are something special. While cake decorating is a timely process at the best of times, imagine how long it must take Vigil to hand “stitch” the embroidery on these cakes! The looks are comprised of hundreds of tiny little strokes that come together to look like a true work of art and seriously, I’m flabbergasted.
  3. The level of detail on these are insane. Embroidery itself is a very meticulous craft, and bringing it to the baking world is no exception. These cakes are so spot-on, helped largely by the fact that Vigil really knows what she’s doing when it comes to choosing patterns to create. The flowers, leaves, and swirls work perfectly here. I just can’t stop gushing over them!
  4. If you live in California, you need to order one of these. Whether you have a birthday coming up, a baby shower, or you just want some dessert, you need to get Vigil to make you an embroidery cake. She takes orders via email but doesn’t deliver, so you’ll have to be close enough to Ontario to be able to pick one up. You can find out more information on her website or her Instagram page.
