“Bambi” is one of the most beloved childhood films, and now it’s getting a horror movie makeover. Just like “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios are planning to unnecessarily terrify audiences yet again with a new slasher flick.
- Scott Jeffrey will be directing. He was the producer on the “Winnie the Pooh” horror, and this time he’s going to be taking an even bigger role. He promises plenty of screams, telling Dread Central: “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s ‘The Ritual,’ Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”
- Production will begin in January 2023. However, the movie doesn’t have an official title yet and the plot details are very vague. That may be because the story is still being hashed out. Whatever the case, there’s bound to be a revenge element since Bambi’s mother was killed. (Spoiler alert!)
- It’s meant to be silly and a lot of fun. While it’s unlikely that the Bambi horror movie will scar you for life, if you’re a fan of bloody slasher flicks, it will likely appeal to you. It’s an absurdist take on what’s usually a very happy-go-lucky tale. Audiences who can appreciate ridiculousness and see the humor in this take will probably really appreciate it. We’ll be looking forward to it, for sure!
