Bear Paw Succulents Are The Adorable Plants Missing From Your Collection

You may think you’ve seen every succulent that there is out there, but I bet I’ve found one that will be brand new to you. ‘Bear paw’ succulents are fuzzy, fluffy, and super cute and they would make an adorable addition to your plant collection. I don’t know about you but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more adorable plant.

  1. ‘Bear paw’ succulents are officially known as Cotyledon Tomentosa. This species of evergreen flowering plant is native to South Africa. While it gets the “bear paw” name because of the little teeth on the edges of the leaves, the plants also sprout orange, bell-shaped flowers every spring.
  2. Like most succulents, they’re relatively easy to care for. In their native environment, they grow in rocky quartz fields that provide a lot of drainage, which is vital for succulents. They don’t need a lot of water — and in fact, too much water can and will kill them — but they do enjoy a fair bit of sunshine.
  3. You can grow them indoors or out. At long as you follow proper plant care procedures, you can keep ‘Bear paw’ succulents indoors. They do best in an area where they can get at least six hours of indirect sunlight a day and you should only water them when the soil is completely dry. Simple!
  4. These would make a great gift for any plant lovers in your life. Instead of giving your friend, colleague, or family member flowers for their next birthday or special occasion, why not give them a ‘Bear paw’ succulent? They’re guaranteed to love it.
  5. While incredibly unique, ‘Bear paw’ succulents are easy to get a hold of. You may be able to find them at your local greenmarket, specialty flower shop, or garden center. If not, they’re readily available online from places like Succulents Box, Etsy, and even Amazon.
