This Beating ‘Tell-Tale Heart’ Cake Is Both Beautiful And Terrifying

I love to bake and while I consider myself pretty good at following recipes, I’m no artist and I could never make anything that looks super fancy. That’s why I’m so in awe of professional cake artists who make such beautiful creations like this Tell-Tale Heart cake that comes complete with beating heart!

  1. Edgar Allen Poe’s classic tale is super creepy. Made by Jane Martin, who runs Fanciful Cakes, the Tell-Tale Heart cake features an open book showing text from the creepy story along with the featured bloody red beating heart at the center of Poe’s work. Given the overwhelming eerie and frightening feeling in the story, Jane really went the extra mile in bringing it to life in her cake.
  2. Jane’s son Alasdair shared the creation on his YouTube channel. He revealed that his mom had made the cake for an office Valentine’s Day party which is super dark and I love it! “All cake, all edible, all pumpy. My mom whipped this together for the office valentines day party. Do you have the heart to like it?” he captioned the video.
  3. This is so magical! I have no idea how Jane got the heart to beat but I don’t need to know – I’m impressed! I especially love that this was made for Valentine’s Day, a holiday notable for its lovey-dovey hearts and romance. This is certainly a twist on a theme and Jane is my new hero.
  4. No word on what type of cake it was, unfortunately. All cake is good cake in my book, but I wonder what it looked like inside once you cut into it. My personal favorite flavor combination is devil’s food cake with vanilla frosting, but again, I’m not picky. Also, this is such a beautiful cake that it would feel wrong to cut into it and ruin it. It should be preserved in a museum!
