Being A Single Cat Lady Is Better Than Being Some Terrible Guy’s Girlfriend

People like to joke that single AF women will one day turn into “crazy cat ladies.” While I doubt that the “crazy” part truly fits me, the rest of that label might end up suiting me pretty well for the rest of my life if I continue to have the same success in my dating life. Luckily, I’m not too bummed out about it. This is why I’d gladly embrace the cat lady life if it meant never having to put up with another douchebag:

  1. Cats are actually awesome. First of all, owning a cat doesn’t mean you’re destined to be alone forever. I’m sick of the annoying negativity that goes along with being a single woman with a cat. My kitty might be an annoying little jerk at times, but he’s hilarious, loving, and way better company than most of the guys I’ve dated.
  2. I’d rather spoil my kitty than an undeserving douchebag. Why would I want to waste my time cooking a hot meal for another idiot who treats me like garbage and doesn’t appreciate me? I’d much rather do something like knit my cat a sweater with matching kitten mittens. Even if it means I’m wasting my time, it’s no less futile than trying to be happy while dating a jerk.
  3. My cat won’t send me unwanted pictures. I’m sick of expecting a text and receiving a penis pic instead. I’d way rather lay on my couch and watch hours upon hours of Netflix shows with my fur-baby than deal with another guy who thinks a picture of his junk is a blessing rather than a curse.
  4. I refuse to waste my time on guys who aren’t worth it. I’ve been out with enough losers to anticipate when a guy isn’t going to be the one for me. I keep my standards high because I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes I’ve already made. I prefer to stay home with my pet and save my energy for a guy who truly deserves me.
  5. My cat makes my life whole, but he isn’t my whole life. I find it hilarious that single cat owners are always portrayed as hermits whose homes double as poorly managed cat sanctuaries. I have a life outside of being an awesome cat mom, and it includes having a strong career, an active social life, and plenty of hobbies. My life wouldn’t be the same without my little furball, but he’s definitely not the only thing I have going for me.
  6. I don’t consider “cat lady” to be an insult. People talk about being a cat lady like it’s the worst thing that a person could become. But honestly, if the worst thing someone can say about me is that I picked cats over guys, I’m not going to be too upset. If it comes down to it, I’d much rather spend my life surrounded by cute animals than douchebags.
  7. Even the worst cats still aren’t as bad as players. Even when my cat purposely knocks important stuff off my counters while making direct eye contact with me, I’d still rather clean up his mess than waste one more moment with another guy who turns out to be lame.
  8. Cats are cuter. I’ve met some hot guys in my life, but at the end of the day, I’d much rather fill up my camera roll with pictures of my cat than pictures of my boyfriend. No matter how attractive a man may be, I’ll always prefer looking at my kitty’s big eyes and adorable paws.
  9. A cat adds more to my life than a douchebag ever could. Talking with a guy who doesn’t really care about me might keep me entertained for a while, but his generic texts and kissy-face emojis could never make me nearly as happy as my cat does. A guy could never replace my cat, but you can bet that when yet another jerk enters and inevitably exits my life, my cat will be there to cuddle up next to me and help me feel better.
  10. I’d have a cat regardless of my relationship status. No matter where I am in life or who I end up with, I’m always going to have a pet. I’m a proud cat lady when I’m single, and if I find a guy worthy of my affection, I’ll still be a cat lady. My attraction to a player may come and go, but my love for my furry friends will always be there.
