Bethenny Frankel Calls Kylie Jenner’s Makeup A “Scam” In Harsh Instagram Review

Bethenny Frankel didn’t mince words when it came to reviewing Kylie Jenner’s makeup line, calling the brand’s pricing a “scam.” The former Real Housewives of New York City star took to her Instagram page on Thursday, October 6 to review Kylie’s Birthday PR Box, which is currently selling for $175. Given that the clip was captioned “girl, don’t do it, it’s not worth it,” it’s clear she wasn’t a fan.

  1. The products in the $175 box cost $58 if bought separately. This is the reason Frankel took issue with Kylie Cosmetics. Bethenny was certain that the PR Box had to contain something special or different to justify the insanely high price. After all, no one in their right mind would pay three times the amount for the same products, right? Not so much. The exact same products are featured in the Birthday Bundle, which sells for only $58.
  2. Frankel was shocked at the “scam” pricing. Frankel said in the video that she’d seen someone talking about the pricing discrepancy on TikTok but was sure there must have been some mistake. After all, Kylie Jenner couldn’t justify charging Bethenny Frankel (or anyone else) nearly $200 for products that were only worth about 30% of the cost. “I was confused, I thought something had to be different. There is something different,” she said. “This has a box that you’re going to throw in the garbage. Unless you have a hamster that you’re gonna put in here.”
  3. Frankel wanted to return the box. Realizing she’d been scammed, Frankel decided she wanted to return the Birthday PR Box and simply pick up the much cheaper Birthday Bundle, which contains the exact same products. However, she got a rude awakening on that front too. “Breaking news, this just in, I just found out that Kylie Beauty doesn’t accept returns so I am stuck with a $117 cardboard box,” she ranted. “Maybe I’ll go to the mall and get myself a hamster. … They are the same except for the box. That’s a scam. How stupid do we have to be? I just wanna know, like how stupid do we have to be? Okay, I mean, I’m a sucker, I like the packaging, I like the stuff, but where you lose me is when you scammed me.”
  4. Sadly, this likely won’t dissuade Kylie fans from purchasing the more expensive products. While there’s no doubt that a cardboard box isn’t worth $117, many Kylie fans will likely continue to purchase these “special” products for the sake of completing their collections. Just know that Bethenny Frankel tried to warn everyone!
