The best friends all have a few qualities in common – they’re kind, caring, trustworthy and dependable, and that’s just to name a few. When you’ve got a solid girlfriend, you’re pretty much set for life, so it’s important to hold on to the ones we’ve got. After all, relationships may come and go, but a BFF is for life. So what makes best friends so great?
- They call you out on your crap. They’ve got your back, but they’re also not afraid to tell it like it is. If you’re being ridiculous about something, they’re the first ones to say, “Girl, hold up!” and guide you on a better path.
- They’ve always got a bottle of wine on hand. We’ve all had those times when it’s just been a bummer of a day and we need somewhere to go and vent. Where do you go? Your favorite bar, AKA your best friend’s house.
- They actually get it. Whether your problem is big or small, your best girlfriends understand where you’re coming from. They’re not mad when you’ve gotta skip dinner plans because of a work engagement or when you’re so mad at your boyfriend even though what he said kinda wasn’t all that bad. They’re your unconditional support.
- They know how to cheer you up. They recognize when you’re feeling bummed and know how to make you feel better. No one makes you laugh harder or longer at the silliest things than they do, hands down.
- They check in with you regularly. Whether via text, email, a phone call, or even in person, they’re always hitting you up just to see how you’re doing. We all have busy lives, but it’s important to stay in touch with your close friends, even if it’s just a quick emoji-ridden text.
- They help you get ahead. If they’ve got a possible job lead or connection they can make for you, they’re all over it, because the best girlfriends genuinely want their friends to succeed.
- They’re the perfect wing (wo)men. When you’re single, your girlfriends are there to take you out and lift you up. They’ll be your bar buddy and help you hook up with the hottie sipping whiskey at the end of the bar.
- They you a ride to the airport. The ultimate sign of friendship has to be who is there for you to take you to the airport. No one wants to go to the airport. When someone gives you a ride — or even volunteers — that’s a true sign of friendship, right there.
- They always return what they borrow. From makeup to money, a true friend does their best to return whatever they’ve borrowed from you. It may take them a while, but they never leave you hanging.
- They can do nothing with you and still make it fun. Some lazy Sundays all you need to do to have fun is hang out with your best gal pal and do nothing. Our closest friends are those we can do nothing with and still have a total blast.
