If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll want to get yourself to New York City this summer for the opening of the world’s biggest Harry Potter flagship store full of every wizarding goody your heart could ever desire. Here’s what you need to know about it in preparation for your imminent visit (because you are going, right?).
Warner Bros./Wizarding World
- It will be three floors of Harry Potter goodness. Given that the flagship store is being billed as the world’s biggest Harry Potter store, it’s going to have to live up to the hype. Thankfully, it seems like it will — there will be three floors full of wizard goodies, from Marauders Maps to Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans and everything in between.
- The store will have exclusive items you can’t get elsewhere. You’d probably assume that any HP merch that exists is already available at places like Universal Studios since they have a whole Harry Potter-themed land, but the NYC store is promising some unique items you can only get there, such as exclusive house wands. There goes my bank balance!
- It’s in a great location. New York City is always crowded anyway, but you can expect the area around the world’s biggest Harry Potter store to be even busier. It’s located in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, just below 23rd Street in the building that used to house Restoration Hardware. That probably won’t mean anything to you if you’re not from NYC, but if you are, you might want to steer clear of the area for a while (or, you know, get there early to get your merch).
- It’s unclear exactly when the store will open. We do know that it will be open in Summer 2020 but no specific opening date has been released thus far. Chances are they’ll want to take advantage of the heavy footfall the warmer months bring, so if we’re lucky, we could be stocking up on Fizzing Whizbees by mid- to late June or early July. Watch this space!
