7-Year-Old Boy Throws Socially Distanced Prom For His Babysitter After Hers Is Canceled

An incredibly thoughtful 7-year-old boy decided to throw a socially distanced prom for his nanny after hers was canceled due to the coronavirus. Curtis Rogers knew how disappointed high school senior Rachel Chapman would be about not being able to attend the event so he took it into his own hands to create a very special day for her.

  1. Rachel has been looking after Curtis for more than a year. During that time, the two have developed a real bond. However, due to lockdown restrictions, he hadn’t been able to see her for the past two months. When Curtis’ mom, Eliza Rogers, told him that Rachel wouldn’t be able to go to prom this year, the little boy had the amazing idea.
  2. Curtis’ idea for a socially distanced prom is brilliant! Describing her as “one of the best people,” Curtis turned up to Rachel’s with a big sign asking her to go to prom with him. He created the whole socially distanced event from start to finish, showing just how thoughtful and sweet he really is.
  3. The socially distanced prom was a major hit. Both Curtis and Rachel wore formalwear, and Curtis even planned out a menu with peanut butter and apples as a starter, Chick-Fil-A for the main meal, and smoothies for dessert. They not only shared a toast but also danced together from a distance with pool noodles between them.
  4. The whole family was happy to make this special day for Rachel. Throwing a socially distanced prom for Rachel was the least Curtis and his family wanted to do for her. As Eliza told Good Morning America, “It was a sweet thing for him to do. They have a special relationship. She has become a part of our family, he absolutely adores her. She’s a just great person with a good heart so it’s been a blessing to have her helping us out with Curtis.”
  5. Rachel never saw it coming. “I was so surprised,” Rachel told GMA. “I had no idea he was going to go all out. It was very thoughtful and sweet.” It definitely was!
