Gabby Petito: Groups Of Brian Laundrie Supporters Are Growing Online

Despite overwhelming evidence that Brian Laundrie had something to do with (or is responsible for) the disappearance and murder of his fiancee, Gabby Petito, there’s a growing number of supporters for the missing man online. Ever since Petito’s remains were found in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, several Reddit boards and Facebook groups have sprung up online in support of Laundrie, The Daily Beast reveals. Not only do they claim that Laundrie is entirely innocent in the case, but they also claim that Petito was the abuser in the situation.

  1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the groups are full of MRAs. MRAs, or men’s rights activists, tend to be heavily anti-woman, often to the point of violence. Many of Brian Laundrie’s supporters have been complaining about how women are always portrayed as the victims in the media and that it’s men that are really hard done by.
  2. The supporters are ignoring the facts. For instance, after news of a domestic violence incident between Laundrie and Petito prior to her disappearance in which a police officer reported a heated argument between the two, Laundrie’s supporters have claimed that body cam footage proves that Laundrie was the victim of abuse, not Petito.
  3. If Brian Laundrie murdered Petito, his supporters say it was in self-defense. For instance, one user who goes by OriginalMgtow wrote: “The bloodthirsty vengeful Feminist SIMP mobs of self-entitled Narcissistic KARENS would forever point to the body cam video evidence of the cuts, scratches and bruises as total 100% justification for her to end his life.” Terrifying.
  4. They’re using it as a blueprint and an excuse for violence. Another user, balenciagogo, wrote that if anything, the most important lesson from this entire case is that “Brian has taught us how to escape an abusive relationship – no matter what it takes.” Even if “what it takes” is murder, apparently.

The fact that these men feel this way isn’t only disturbing, it’s actually concerning.
