Bride-To-Be Calls Off Wedding After Discovering Fiance Watches Adult-Films

A woman who was planning a lavish wedding with her fiance has called off their engagement after discovering her partner has watched porn. In a recent post, blogger Claire Dalton detailed how her relationship with her ex-fiance fell apart in the wake of her discovery that he dared to watch x-rated videos on the internet. That’s right, what seemed like a totally normal and innocuous thing became, for Claire, the basis for her world to come crashing down around her. Frankly, I’m not sure how to feel!

  1. Claire has always been religious. She starts her post by insisting that she’s not “man bashing” and that she has a strong religious background and her faith is central to her life. “Religion has always been the core and center of my life and actions, and I grew up being taught true principles of the institution of marriage and family. I was always taught God’s purposes for marriage and family, and how to seek for and live in such a way that we can be blessed with an eternal family and an eternal marriage,” she wrote. Fair enough!
  2. A week before the wedding, it all went wrong. Claire says that she had a feeling that something wasn’t quite right about a week before the wedding, but she pushed it aside. However, one look at her fiance’s search history proved that her inkling was right: there was a search phrase that “concluded he’d been searching for pornography, possibly only hours ago.”
  3. Claire felt completely beside herself at the discovery. She said she found “multiple windows open of sick and twisted ideas of what women supposedly look like” and that she felt “sick to [her] stomach” seeing them. However, her fiance assured her that it was no big deal and in fact it was his brother that was into porn, and Claire tried to believe him.
  4. Eventually, her fiance came clean. He told her that he had a porn addiction, which… seems a pretty huge escalation from just having a few videos open on his phone. Claire felt like the whole universe was collapsing around her and couldn’t believe that God could put such a thing in her path. “It wasn’t long before I found myself sobbing and screaming uncontrollably.  Between sobs, my heart felt morbidly dysfunctional and stone cold.  Little did I know it would feel like that for a very long time,” she wrote.
  5. Obviously, they called off the wedding. Claire truly believes she was “the victim” in this scenario since she considered her fiance watching porn to be a huge breach of the trust they’d built. While she’s moved on with her life since then by seeking counseling, she will never get over the betrayal she feels she’s experienced at her former fiance’s hands.
