Britney Spears Dances In Celebration After Her Father Steps Down From Conservatorship

It’s been a long time coming, but Jamie Spears has finally agreed to step down as Britney Spears’ conservator “when the time is right.” Britney has been under the abusive and downright illegal conservatorship for more than 13 years, with the singer recently speaking out against the conditions she’s been living under and her desire to have her father removed from the conservatorship (and for the conservatorship to be dissolved completely). Now, it seems like the message has finally gotten through, and no one is happier about it than Britney.

  1. Jamie Spears has always claimed that he was acting in Britney’s best interest. However, it’s always been plainly clear that wasn’t the case. Not only was he living off his daughter’s hard-earned money, giving himself a $30,000 stipend as well as using her cash to pay for all of his legal fees, among other costs, but he also continued to insist she was incapable of running her own life while making her work 24/7. This guy has got to go – and frankly, he should be jailed!
  2. Now, Jamie is finally stepping down “when the time is right.” In response to a legal request filed by Britney’s new (and self-chosen!) lawyer Matthew Rosengart, Jamie said he will back down but still insisted that it was because people were bullying him rather than because what he’s doing is so wrong.
  3. It’s mad how he still insists what he’s doing is right. In court papers, Jamie claims there are “in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate… and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.” However, he adds: “Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”
  4. It may be a while before Jamie actually takes his grubby paws off Britney and her money. As the court filing from Jamie’s lawyer’s continued: “Mr. Spears continues to serve dutifully, and he should not be suspended or removed, and certainly not based on false allegations. Mr. Spears is willing to step down when the time is right, but the transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the court.” Just go, dude!
  5. Britney and her lawyer are taking the victory. “We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others,” Rosengart said in a statement, as per E! News. Britney has nominated professional fiduciary and CPA Jason Rubin to take over Jamie’s role until the conservatorship can be dissolved.
