Can You Handle Casual Sex? 10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Hooking Up

Every girl has that lightbulb moment when she realizes it’s possible to have fun with boys without getting heartbroken. It’s called casual sex, and some singles swear by it. Of course, other ladies aren’t as impressed by the idea, because it comes with its downsides. Here are a few ways to figure out if you’re the type who can actually handle having casual sex or if you should hold out for a relationship:

  1. Can you imagine dating him? When it comes to casual sex, it’s crucial to find a partner that you aren’t interesting in dating. Pick someone who’s as hot as hell but that’s about it, so you never feel the urge to turn him into your boyfriend. That way, you won’t get emotionally attached.
  2. Is sex a big deal to you? If you believe intercourse is a beautiful experience that should only be shared between two people who are madly in love, casual sex isn’t up your alley. One-night stands mean sleeping with a stranger and then never calling them again, so you should hold out for an actual relationship if sex is that important to you.
  3. Are you worried about pregnancy? Every woman has a few scares here and there, even if she’s only a few hours late. However, if you’re the type of person who worries so much that she can’t eat, you probably don’t want to sleep around. If you do, you’ll never stop wondering which guy might end up as your future baby daddy.
  4. Do you carry protection? When you have a responsible boyfriend, he’ll always carry condoms with him. If you’re having impromptu sex with a stranger, he might not be as careful. That means it’s up to you to pack condoms in your bag and to take your birth control pill in a timely manner.
  5. Do you get jealous easily? If you have casual sex with a guy, and then see him flirting with another girl at a party a few days later, you can’t throw a drink in his face. You two aren’t in a relationship, which means he’s free to do as he pleases. If you’re so jealous that you can’t take the thought of seeing him with another woman, then you shouldn’t have casual sex with him.
  6. Can you say “no”? Even if you never end up developing feelings for your partner, he might be the one to fall for you. If he does, you have to be strong enough to tell him that your arrangement is over. Don’t keep having casual sex with him, and definitely don’t let him guilt you into dating him.
  7. Are you selfish in the bedroom? When you’re in a relationship, your boyfriend won’t have a problem making certain nights “all about you.” However, when you’re having a one-night stand, you can’t be greedy. You need to give as much as you take.
  8. Do you care about your reputation? Even though we’re living in the modern world, some people will still judge a woman for sleeping around. If being called promiscuous actually bothers you, then you should either refrain from having casual sex, or at least keep your conquests quiet.
  9. Will sex actually make you happier? If sex will make you smile, sleep with all the men that you can manage to seduce. But if you’re only using sex as a meaningless tool to fill a void that your ex left, you should try to find another outlet for your pain.
  10. Do you want a real relationship? If you want to burst into tears whenever you see a cute couple in matching sweaters walking through the park, then you shouldn’t have casual sex. If you really want a relationship, you should try to find a man who is on the same page. Don’t settle for sex when you want a whole lot more.
