Capricorn Compatibility: Romantic Matches Ranked From Best To Worst

Characterized by the sea goat, Capricorn represents those born between December 22 and January 19. Strong-willed, ambitious, intelligent, and patient, these signs are often workaholics. While some signs in the zodiac are great matches for them, others tend to just butt heads with this earth sign. Keep reading to find out which signs are the best matches for Capricorn, and which are the worst.

  1. Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Another earth sign, Taurus is naturally extremely compatible with Capricorn. Both of these signs are logical thinkers and communicate with honesty. While Taurus has a reputation for being stubborn, a weaker personality might possibly become a doormat under Capricorn’s domineering nature. Capricorn is a hard worker who loves to make money, and Taurus loves to spend it. Match made in heaven! No, but really. Taurus is the only sign in the zodiac with a work ethic that could match Capricorn’s, making this sign the best match.
  2. Virgo (August 23 – September 22) In the work ethic competition, Virgo would come in at a close second. It’s no coincidence that Virgo is another earth sign—these reasonable and consistent signs will value each other’s reliability and common sense. It takes a tough character like Capricorn to withstand Virgo’s demand for perfection. And likewise, Virgo is independent enough to deal with Capricorn being away for work and other goal-smashing activities.
  3. Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) Capricorn isn’t the most nurturing or affectionate sign, even when they’re in love. That’s why an aloof sign like Aquarius usually makes a great match for them. Aquarius rarely takes things personally and gives their lovers the freedom and space to live their own lives. While the rational Capricorn might not always understand the abstract ideas of Aquarius, the differences between these two signs may bring a good balance to the relationship.
  4. Aries March 21 – April 19) Despite the fact that they both like to wear the pants, Aries and Capricorn can make it work. These two signs may bond over their strong opinions and their determined characters. Both ambitious and focused, they have everything they need to make the ultimate power couple. Will there be some heated moments between them? Possibly. But if they put their minds together, there’s no telling what they’ll achieve as a team.
  5. Leo (July 23 – August 22) Like Aries, Leo may experience some fiery moments when in a relationship with Capricorn. That’s what happens when two strong personalities come together. But Leo can also be the answer to Capricorn’s prayers, since this sign brings all the fun that the super-serious Capricorn may be lacking. Although Capricorn may get annoyed with Leo’s craving for the spotlight, Leo could also be just what Capricorn needs to loosen up and enjoy life.
  6. Libra (September 23 – October 22) On one hand, a relationship between Libra and Capricorn can be a good thing. These two signs are both intelligent, polite, and agreeable. On the surface, they share many of the same values. But with libra being a true romantic at heart, and Capricorn being more of a workaholic, this relationship could also lead to some resentment. Libra may be able to romance Capricorn and steal their heart away, or they may get bored with the earth sign’s serious approach to life and move on to the next one.
  7. Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Mostly, air signs and earth signs run into problems. Earth signs like Capricorn value being grounded in a routine. And air signs like Gemini want anything but. A relationship between Capricorn and Gemini may not end well, with Gemini going stir-crazy stuck in Capricorn’s routine. Capricorn may also get fed up with Gemini’s need to bounce from place to place, activity to activity, and person to person. In rare cases, though, Capricorn may be able to bring the focus that Gemini needs to stick it out in achieving their goals.
  8. Pisces (February 19 – March 20) Generally, Pisces is much too sensitive to last with a Capricorn. Known for their honesty and slightly harsh demeanor, Capricorn could easily leave this emotional water sign in tears. Pisces, on the flip side, is known for their compassion and expressing their love, which might come across as needy to Capricorn. Plus, Capricorn would likely get sick of Pisces tendency to dream rather than act.
  9. Cancer (June 21 – July 22) If Pisces is too sensitive for Capricorn, Cancer is definitely too sensitive for Capricorn. Another water sign, Cancer turns to emotion the same way that Capricorn turns to logic. While Cancer will likely find Capricorn to be cold and brutal in their prioritizing of work above all else, Capricorn might find Cancer’s mood swings hard to take. That said, these two could also fill each other’s needs in rare cases. Cancer loves to nurture and typically enjoys building a beautiful home. And Capricorn prefers to go out to work and be looked after at home.
  10. Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) Although Sagittarius and Capricorn are both strong-willed, there are too many differences between them for a relationship to be likely to succeed. Sagittarius loves to roam free and Capricorn loves to set boundaries. Capricorn sees black and white and Sagittarius sees color. And while Capricorn is cool and collected, Sagittarius is fiery as they come. A relationship between these two would feature clash after clash after clash.
  11. Scorpio (October 23 – November 21) If there’s one sign that Capricorn should try and avoid, it’s Scorpio. Another water sign, Scorpio approaches love in a completely different way from Capricorn. While the latter likes to keep work and home separate, Scorpio allows love to consume them. This sign isn’t likely to be cool with an overly independent partner who has lots of time away from the relationship, which Capricorn usually enjoys. Scorpio’s possessiveness can often mean that they’ll end up jealous of Capricorn, which is likely to rub up Capricorn the wrong way can cause major conflict.
