Christopher Meloni Is Returning As Elliot Stabler In His Own ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Spin-Off

Christopher Meloni Is Returning As Elliot Stabler In His Own ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Spin-Off NBC

If you’re anything like me, you still mourn the day Christopher Meloni left Law & Order: SVU. Yes, thank goodness Mariska Hargitay is still there and the rest of the cast is still pretty strong, but Benson and Stabler are the OTP of the ages and things haven’t been totally the same since they split. However, there’s some good news on the horizon: Stabler is getting his own SVU spin-off series. Hell yes!

  1. Christopher Meloni is BACK. NBC is so confident about their Stabler spin-off that the as-yet untitled drama series was immediately picked up for 13 episodes, sight unseen, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Given the success of SVU and Meloni’s character, this isn’t exactly a surprise.
  2. Stabler is back in charge. If you think back to Season 13, Stabler retired off-screen after declining to go through a thorough investigation and evaluation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau following a shooting in the Special Victims squad room. Well, it looks like Stabler’s back in the game as the SVU spin-off will reportedly be about an organized crime unit led by him. Sign me up!
  3. Do I smell a crossover coming? While I honestly wish he was rejoining SVU instead of going on an entirely different show, the fact that Stabler is heading up a show still set within the Law & Order universe means that there’s a possibility of him hitting up SVU or characters from that show making an appearance on his.
  4. Basically, I just want Stabler and Benson back together. I know they’ll probably never be partners again but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream. While Benson has climbed the ladder and is now running the show at SVU, Stabler is also leading a unit so they’re still on equal footing. Maybe they’ll have to work on a case together at some point? I just can’t let it go!
  5. We may have to wait a while for the Stabler spin-off but it’ll come. Given the fact that no shows are filming in the midst of everything that’s happening at the moment, it will probably be a little while before the SVU spin-off comes to air. However, at least we know we’ve got more Stabler on the way so we’ll just have to be patient.
