A Missouri man who thought it was hilarious to lick products on the shelves of a Warrenton Walmart store and then post the clip to social media on March 11. Unfortunately, people online found it anything but funny and alerted local police to the situation and now Cody Pfister has been arrested on terror charges.
- Pfister originally put the footage on Snapchat. In the clip, he could be seen running his tongue along a shelf of deodorant bottles and saying, “Who’s afraid of the c*ronav*rus?” What he thought he was going to achieve by doing this other than just being a massive jerk is beyond me, but people do some really stupid things for social media.
- Thank goodness someone told the police. The City of Warrenton Police were alerted to Cody Pfister’s actions by members of the public from all over the world. As they said in a statement, “A local resident who took a video of themselves licking the merchandise after making a ‘Corona Virus’ [sic] statement at Walmart and posting it to social media has been taken into custody. Charges will be pending through the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. This particular video, which won’t be shared here, has gained some international attention and we have received numerous reports about the video from locals, nearby residents, as well as people from the Netherlands, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. We take these complaints very seriously and would like to thank all of those who reported the video so the issue could be addressed.”
- Pfister is now facing a low-level felony. Following his arrest, Cody Pfister was charged with making a terrorist threat. Court documents said that Pfister “knowingly caused a false belief or fear that a condition involving danger to life existed” and acted “with reckless disregard of the risk causing the evacuation, quarantine or closure of any portion” of the store in which his crime was committed.
- This isn’t his first trouble with the law. According to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Cody Pfister has previous arrests and convictions for theft of a firearm, burglary, driving while intoxicated, and disorderly conduct, so clearly he’s a winner.
