I am a major fan of all things carbs. Pasta, potatoes, and rice are delicious, but fresh bread is definitely at the top of my list. Whether we’re talking fresh buttery croissants, a gorgeous sourdough loaf, or even a nice slice of thick whole wheat toast, I want it all in my belly immediately. That’s why I’m seriously planning a trip to Japan since I discovered there’s a bakery making corgi butt bread that I clearly need to eat ASAP.

- Of course these are only in Japan. The term “kawaii” became popular because it’s what Japan does best: makes things cute. What’s more adorable than little corgi butts? Well, corgi butts in bread form, that’s what.
- Next time you’re in Sapporo, you have to get some of these. They come from a bakery in the city called Utiwapanya, which has suddenly and unexpectedly found itself at the top of my travel bucket list.
- They’re not just plain bread buns. Like many things in Japan, there’s more to these buns than meets the eye. These aren’t the kind of rolls you’d slice and make sandwiches out of. In fact, they’re already filled with a combination of apple jam and custard, which is basically my perfect dessert taste. Ugh, my mouth is watering just thinking about them.
- They don’t just do corgi butts! If for some reason corgi butt bread isn’t your thing, Utiwapanya has plenty of other options for you including adorable little cat and dog faces and many more. They even seem to do some savory breads, like one that looks like it’s filled with ham and cheese.
- If you need me, I’ll be in Sapporo eating corgi butt bread for all eternity. I’ll probably buy 20 of everything they’re selling, in fact, because again, I love carbs. Anyone live in Sapporo and want to send me these in the mail?
