Attention, Game Lovers: Crash Bandicoot Is Coming To Mobile, Leak Suggests

While traditional gaming on systems such as Playstation and Xbox are as popular as ever, considering that mobile gaming is a $68.5 billion global industry, it makes sense that tech companies are spending more and more time developing and adapting games for mobile platforms. Thankfully, it seems that Activision is one such company and that Crash Bandicoot may be the next beloved game to get a mobile edition.

  1. The news was revealed via leak. While you can’t always trust online leaks, it seems like this one is pretty legit. Twitter users @jumpbuttoncb and @motwera discovered the news quite by accident after coming across a secret sign-up link via Facebook. Apparently, this link will take you to a page telling you that Crash Bandicoot for mobile isn’t yet available while also inviting you to take part in a survey to help with its development.
  2. Wait, really? Yes, really! The link takes you to a page that explains, “Thank you for your interest in this new game! Unfortunately, this game is not yet available but we would appreciate a moment of your time to complete a short survey in order to help improve its development. Your responses will be anonymous and no personal data about you is collected or processed.”
  3. It looks to be a collaboration with King. You’ll be familiar with King since they’re the gaming company behind such addictive titles as Candy Crush Saga and Bubble Witch Saga. If the screencaps posted by @jumpbuttoncb are legit, that means Crash Bandicoot Mobile was created in collaboration with King, which means it’s definitely going to be good.
  4. Crash Bandicoot is one of Playstation’s most iconic characters. While he first appeared back in 1996, he’s recently been recreated and available to play as part of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled on Playstation, Nintendo, and Xbox. It just makes sense for Crash to make the transition to mobile.
  5. Activision Blizzard president and chief operating officer Coddy Johnson has given me hope that this is real. As reported by Gamespot, Activision appreciates the value of mobile gaming and basically anything in the franchise is up for grabs when it comes for mobile development. “A third of our business is on mobile already. We have the largest mobile gaming presence in the west. So we want to build on that leadership position. We think it’s a foundation of strength to do that. [Mobile] is a massive opportunity, and we think not just for Call of Duty and not just for Diablo Immortal. The AAA kinds of games we make are ready to work on mobile because of the improving compute and graphics capability [of the mobile devices]. And honestly because of evolving player expectations. It’s now the case that many of the most successful global games are first-person action, strategy; those all align, as you might imagine, very well with our portfolio. [And] we have a growing ability to execute.”
  6. Hopefully, we’ll be playing Crash Bandicoot on mobile soon. Fingers crossed!!
