Opinion: Cuddling Is Just As Good As Sex (If Not Better)

Sex is one of the most glamorized aspects of dating today, and for good reason. Without the right sexual chemistry, no relationship will make it very far. However, cuddling is also really important; it’s not just a temporary pastime between rounds 1 and 2. Here are some of the best reasons cuddling is just as good as sex (if not better):

There’s no such thing as casual cuddling.

Casual sex is really common, which has cheapened sex to the point where any sexual encounter could be deemed casual on one end or the other, and it’s hard to tell the intent sometimes. Straight-up cuddling, on the other hand, is almost always indicative of a deeper connection.

It feels really good in the best way possible.

Sex feels good in a primal way, but cuddling feels good on all levels, all the way down to your soul.

Cuddling on its own doesn’t have any negative side effects.

It doesn’t cause diseases or pregnancy, so that’s win/win!

When you’ve had a bad day, cuddling will make you feel better.

There’s always a chance that the cuddling will lead to sex, but it’s the cuddling that actually helps you get over the bad day and into a better place.

Body heat is free, so you can save money on the electric bill.

Lowering the temperature even a couple degrees saves money; you can use that money to order a pizza to eat while you’re cuddling in bed. That sounds like a win/win situation to me.

You can multi-task while cuddling.

It’s generally frowned upon to answer emails, browse Facebook, or watch Netflix while having sex. You can do any one of these things while cuddling.

It’s much easier and more restful to cuddle all night.

Yes, you most definitely can have sex all night, but you’ll be really tired at work the next day. A blissful night of cuddling, however, will leave you well-rested and ready to take on the day.

Resting your head on his chest and feeling his heartbeat is pretty magical.

In fact, it’s one of the moments you wish would never end.

You feel butterflies when he gently kisses your forehead or shoulder while cuddling.

You know what I’m talking about. It’s amazing.

Cuddling is a great way to gauge sexual chemistry without having sex.

When you’re dating someone new and haven’t had sex yet, cuddling is a great way to gauge your chemistry without going too far too quickly. It may still be a little awkward at first just because it’s new, but you’ll know deep down if that’s the case or if the chemistry just isn’t there.
